I watched not one minute of the Stuper Bowl last night. Nothing. No half time show, no commercials, nothing. This morning when my alarm went off at 4:00 I still got out of bed, the sun still came up, and I still went to work like any other day. No matter who won / lost, my life hasn't changed one bit. I missed out on nothing.
Many of the people I know couldn't stop talking about who was going to win, how much money they had bet on the game, and if Taylor Swift (big fucking deal) was going to make the game. Many were the same people who stood up and cursed the NFL, Colin Afronick, and all the players who spit on our country when they refused to stand for the national anthem. Some were vets, many had friends and family who were past or current military, and were planning to watch the game or waiting to see how much they might win on the endless betting pools. It seems they all forgot about the disrespect and it was outweighed by their simple recreational needs.
Fuck the NFL and football. I don't recall them apologizing to anyone for disrespecting this nation and the soldiers who gave their lives to defend it. I don't forgive and forget.

My dads uncle was merchant marine in ww2 crossing the Atlantic in the beginning of the war.
As we know we weren’t prepared and they put anything that could float in water to bring supplies.
His boat was more of a river boat of sorts and had a more round hull.
Besides the constant fear or being torpedoed and being left behind, everyone was always sick because of the rolling. He says guys who had been crossing and real offshore men who were drafted would throw up.
You wouldn’t sleep in your hammock because you’d hit the ceiling and you always had your life vest on and tried to stay as close to the main deck as possible so you could get out if hit.
Of all my fathers family what was in WW2 he had the scariest stories.
