Mine went on every hiking and camping trip for over 20 years. Keep the leather conditioned so it doesn't dry out and start to crack, and they'll last you a lot longer than you think. Mine are now so old and worn I had to file down the lace loops, as the laces had put tiny grooves and a corresponding burr on them.
