AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two weeks ago, a visit for lawn care from the City of Austin to a man’s home ended in a daylong series of events: gunfire, a house fire, and finally, the shooting death of the resident by Austin police.

Now, Austin Police Department is set to release more information about what exactly happened and how it all led to 56 year-old Robert Bruce Richart’s death — including 911 caller audio and body-worn camera video of the incident.

APD: Man at center of SWAT incident in SW Austin dead after shooting with officer, house fire

On Wednesday, APD Chief Joseph Chacon released the names of the officers who were involved: Officer Eric Strnad and Officer Brandon Stewart. Chacon said Strnade has been placed on administrative leave, per APD protocol.

Morning lawn care visit turned deadly

The incident began around 9:15 a.m. Oct. 27, when the Austin Code Department and APD officers visited the resident at his home on Pinkney Lane in southwest Austin to cut his overgrown lawn.

But the visit escalated after the resident began firing from inside his home. After hours of de-escalation tactics, crisis negotiators and mental health officers, a fire started inside the home.

After 3 p.m., officers say he started firing again as flames engulfed the home.

Man in SWAT situation had no violent history during code visits, officials say

Despite attempts to get him out of the home, police say he exited from his garage with weapons in hand, prompting an APD SWAT officer to shoot and hit him. He was taken to the hospital, but later died.

“The Odd House”

Neighbors say they were shocked by the events, but had had questions about the home for years.

“I thought it was deserted for years,” neighbor Brent Mayberry told KXAN. “Until walking by… you hear music one day. And it’s like, ‘Wow. That’s kind of odd.’ It’s just a house that’s been a mystery to everybody in the neighborhood as long as I’ve been here.”

Investigations

APD will launch two investigations into the incident.

Chacon explained Wednesday that in addition to a criminal investigation, an administrative investigation conducted by the APD Internal Affairs Unit with the Office of Police Oversight, which is independent from APD.

Rofl interesting that paying a bond to a fraudulent lawfare project is now a national security risk . Billionares and foreign entities like AIPAC , financing politicians ,.............no problem. 🤡

Michael Cohen's Warning on 'Real Issue' With Donald Trump Bond

Cohen, who has become a fierce critic of Trump, told MSNBC's Reverend Al Sharpton on his show PoliticsNation on Saturday evening: "The real issue that we have to think about is not even about this bond...it's not about the $454, it's where he gets the money from."

"Because if he borrows the money from one of these mega billionaire donors, he becomes indebted to that individual and that places America's security in danger," Cohen said. "But not even as much as if he takes the money from a foreign entity. Now, all of a sudden, he's indebted to a foreign entity—it could be an ally, it could be an adversary, which again, makes it even worse."

He continued: "By knowing Donald the way I do, it'll come through a multitude of shell companies. It's gonna be very difficult to find out where the original dollars come from. He'll know. And again, that will place America's national security in major, major jeopardy."

hmmm
Everyone is dealing with higher food prices. If all your money is going to food, not much left over for other stuff.
Great video, overlooks energy and food while they discuss retail.
These two have their own YT channels where they have discussed all that in detail, but they get technical and I figured most here would have a bit of a tough time following it. They both have called out the fallacy of the CPI and core CPI indexes. Jeff also talks about it all in a global context which is where my head goes as well, especially energy. When they get together its usually a summary level discussion and worth the quick watch. As they come up and are relevant I will post them up.

Just one of the many problem's facing America.
The wealthy / elitist are so disconnected from "The People" they really don't know who would benefit from their donations.
JMHO - There is a segment of American's made up of all color skins that I call "The Working Poor". Making just enough money to "not qualify" for anything, according to government numbers. They work 5 - 6 days / night's a week, take care of their children and aging parents and are not asking for any free handouts. They make do with what they have. They are Proud. I know many 70 year olds making less than $20 / hour that have worked for the same company for 30 years. American's should be ashamed when billions of USD's go to other countries.

According to the Sheriff's Office:

Deputies, Dillon Police Officers, and Montana Highway Patrol responded and a search began. The male was subsequently arrested a short time later and the vehicle was seized, however his flip flops were never recovered.

Got to love the Montana Sheriff's humor.
