While hydrostatic shock do play an important role in the incapacitation of an active threat, especially during an attack by a very deadly and frenzied assailant where if your shots do not stop the assault as fast as possible, your own chances of dying increases, the actual mechanism of wounding and fatality still rests on the simple principle of having a hole poked through something vital... A principle that has dominated human ingenuity since the very first Neanderthal slammed a stone tipped lance through a mastodon or an attacking leopard. Everything in the history of warfare revolves around which side can come up with the best ways to poke holes through the opponent, at longer range, and with more holes poked at shorter period of time...
