It was a ZL1 COPO car in drag trim that I recall ran a 10.3 1/4 mile (couldn't find the article, but I think I have it in an old magazine somewhere). Those cars had around 550 hp from the factory, even though GM claimed they "only" made around 425 hp. But true, they were extremely rare, I think only 50 were ordered and few wanted to pay more money for a Camaro than a Corvette.
A 550hp car with a 60s era chassis, suspension , and 4 speed ain’t running a 10.3 with slicks and a tornadic tailwind.

I’d love to have one of those cars. I’d let you fuck my sister for one. But they’re not running high 11s, let alone deep in the 10s.

Is that an oxygen bottle next to him? Incase of a fire I assume.
Co2
It is used for things like air assist on the clutch and brakes....possibly chute deployment (probably in fact).

That thing most likely has a 3-4 disc clutch and no way it is going to make enough vacuum for power brakes.
So.....Co2 pressurized system.

The fire suppression bottles are almost always red due to SFI regs.
Co2 bottles are grey...
