But, yes, they have come a long way. But they have a long way to go. And it's not AI... it's just processing power and databases.
You don't get huge stock valuations and scare folks by calling things "embedded database software' though. When (if) real AI comes, it will likely be processor-based. Not software, retrieval and storage.

My wife just thinks they're cute and doesn't care much for the games or the show (after the first few seasons). I've mostly fell out of it (what with the games going to shit) but when we go thrift shopping if we see an old toy we snag it. I have a lot of stuff from the 90s era.
