By putting a rock on top of em to shut them up.
I had a Vega camback and wanted to do a sleeper like some guys did. A V8 and power train with rearend would fit in it without it being too obvious. Probably dangerous as all get out, but the drag circuit loved them until all the bodies rusted away.

Baldwin swapped big blocks into Vegas in the 70’s.

And a Ford equivalent. Pinto with a 460 of some flavor.
There was a bunch of those shitty little cars with big engines made by Ford and GM. Ford had the Mustang II Cobra with a 302 and 4spd, Chevy had the Monza GT with a 350 and a 4spd. Those cars were nothing more than Pintos and Vegas with different exterior looks.
Edit: And don’t forget the Dodge Colt turbo.
