That’s my go to. Got tired of chasing donuts with the Redding bushings. Lee collet/redding body has been a flawless combo for me. Happy to see them making dies for the 300 PRC and WSM. Wasn’t an option when I owned my PRC

Probably gonna get flamed but AI has its places but you could build a nice 300 PRC with an Impact or an Origin with a prefit for quite a few dollars less

Not hating. Been thinking of a terminus build. But this is the AI thread. And I have an ATX that I’m on the fence on keeping. So the WSM would just be another option for it
If I have to clean the brake simultaneously, I remove the barrel; plug the end with a PVA device, and soak the bore and chamber.
I still remount the barrel to the rifle and swab everything out using a bore guide.
So I always use a bore guide.
I also always clean the inside of the action thoroughly to keep the bolt smooth.
I do both. Proshot rods have narrow enough handles to flex over my AT’s buttplate (or alternatively, fold the stock), and @pfl338 makes some awesome barrel-only bore guides for when I feel like removing the barrel.
I use Possum Hollow bore guides when I don’t remove the barrel.
Pro tip: call possum hollow to order. And get the integrated solvent port.

@carbonbased +1 on pfl338's thread on bore guides. Makes it easy to then clamp the barrel to a bench and go to town.
I do. Maybe that’s what he’s referring to above? I bought those black end caps from someone on here. Can’t remember the name. Work as a thread protector and bore guide while the barrels off

But when I remove barrels or cans from the end it’s my SOP to install a thread protector. Before even setting it down
My luck is to drop it or turn and wack the threads off my bench, chair or ceiling fan. This way it stays protected. This specific thread protector allows you to handle and clean the barrel with the thread protector on. I then remove it to clean the chamber area and wipe excessive solvent off

Neat! I’ve been looking for something like that for awhile to keep the rod centred with the barrel off. I have so many possum bore guides for my AIs already though. It would be cool if @pfl338 made a universal one meant to slip a possum bore guide into, holding it firmly in place. Well, I think so anyway…

What's the contour? I ask because I just placed an order for 1.350 to 1.250 at 28".
Have you rested the rifle on bipods or tripod and applied pressure? Im no no barrel doctor, but I imagine it will make contact, because of the thickness I'm not sure how much pressure will make an effect.
