Stay with what you got man.The latest threads and almost available Lapua brass and available Lee collet die has me thinking of trying a 300 WSM setup eventually for my ATX
Anyone run a 300 WSM in AI? (I know some do)
Any magazine issues?
Been thinking of getting another 300 WM or 300 PRC and trading out my ATX. But the 300 WSM has me interested again
Well that’s no funStay with what you got man.
Don’t go chasing the latest and greatest. 308 and 6.5 creed will do it all, won’t burn up a barrel, and you already got two proven rifles….
300 prc walks all over std throated 300wm and will crush a 300wsmWell that’s no fun![]()
I have a bunch of 300 PRC brass yet from when I had my AXMC. May get another one someday. I see Lee makes a collet die for that now as well300 prc walks all over std throated 300wm and will crush a 300wsm

That’s my go to. Got tired of chasing donuts with the Redding bushings. Lee collet/redding body has been a flawless combo for me. Happy to see them making dies for the 300 PRC and WSM. Wasn’t an option when I owned my PRCWhat's up with the collet die obsession lol
Bro just build another rifleI have a bunch of 300 PRC brass yet from when I had my AXMC. May get another one someday. I see Lee makes a collet die for that now as well
Not hating. Been thinking of a terminus build. But this is the AI thread. And I have an ATX that I’m on the fence on keeping. So the WSM would just be another option for itBro just build another rifle
Probably gonna get flamed but AI has its places but you could build a nice 300 PRC with an Impact or an Origin with a prefit for quite a few dollars less
Don’t hate me
as someone going through some stuff I won’t disclose, keep it.Not hating. Been thinking of a terminus build. But this is the AI thread. And I have an ATX that I’m on the fence on keeping. So the WSM would just be another option for it
If I have to clean the brake simultaneously, I remove the barrel; plug the end with a PVA device, and soak the bore and chamber.AI guys: do you remove your bbl to clean or use a bore guide to keep crap out of action?
I do both. Proshot rods have narrow enough handles to flex over my AT’s buttplate (or alternatively, fold the stock), and @pfl338 makes some awesome barrel-only bore guides for when I feel like removing the barrel.AI guys: do you remove your bbl to clean or use a bore guide to keep crap out of action?
Is that a bungee to help lift the bolt
Are you using a bore buide with the barrel pulled?@carbonbased +1 on pfl338's thread on bore guides. Makes it easy to then clamp the barrel to a bench and go to town.
I do. Maybe that’s what he’s referring to above? I bought those black end caps from someone on here. Can’t remember the name. Work as a thread protector and bore guide while the barrels offAre you using a bore buide with the barrel pulled?
But why tho lolI do. Maybe that’s what he’s referring to above? I bought those black end caps from someone on here. Can’t remember the name. Work as a thread protector and bore guide while the barrels off
Honestly it just makes me feel goodBut why tho lol
Honestly it just makes me feel good
Is it needed not really. I just keep the rod centered with my hand
But when I remove barrels or cans from the end it’s my SOP to install a thread protector. Before even setting it down
My luck is to drop it or turn and wack the threads off my bench, chair or ceiling fan. This way it stays protected. This specific thread protector allows you to handle and clean the barrel with the thread protector on. I then remove it to clean the chamber area and wipe excessive solvent off
I can’t have a 300, I can’t have a bore guide/thread protector
You guys are just mean this week![]()
Ok nerd, looks like we have to have the talk.I mean you can do what ever you want just never heard anyone using a bore guide when the barrel is pulled. Thought maybe you used it to the rod centered when it's chucked into the 7axis Dremel

I never add any on my AI swappables.Another question… pretty sure there’s no anti seize on my axsr bbls. All my other actions use it. Should I add a little?
I had to look back in my conversations but yes that is correct

The cool thing about @pfl338 ’s bore guides, which are used when the barrel is off (as opposed to Possum Hollow guides), is they have a solvent port built in.I mean you can do what ever you want just never heard anyone using a bore guide when the barrel is pulled. Mine don’t have holes. I was probably one of the first to try them. Bought a couple and he sent me a couple to try for freeThe cool thing about @pfl338 ’s bore guides, which are used when the barrel is off (as opposed to Possum Hollow guides), is they have a solvent port built in.

Question fellas…I ordered my barrel a little thick and now I’m worried about negative effects. It’s not touching the hand guard but it will with little effort. How much might this affect accuracy?
What's the contour? I ask because I just placed an order for 1.350 to 1.250 at 28".Question fellas…I ordered my barrel a little thick and now I’m worried about negative effects. It’s not touching the hand guard but it will with little effort. How much might this affect accuracy?
