Not sure how to answer this, I didn't buy it to shoot close. I got a semi zero at 200, and started testing at 200 and then 300 yards on a couple nice days. It grouped a certain lot of Lapua Long range rather well. I didn't have a tuner on, then one windy day I took it to 5-600 yards. Gusty full value winds from 9 o'clock, a 3-4mph gust, coupled with the spin drift generated from the barrel, made chasing a miss w/o 20 wind flags futile. We're talking feet here, like 3-4, you could make corrections, but if you failed to pick up the wind dropping, now you were 4 feet left.
9tw wasn't for me, I pulled the barrel and it is in the county landfill today. Today, I wish I had tried it in a stiff right wind, and maybe should have invested more time in the thing. Ammo was slow coming out, think 1065-1070, and I didn't want to stick more money in it cutting the barrel off, so multitude of reasons went into the decision. I sold the action too, as I had 3.
Action # 2 was at Modacam, and here it is in the same stock. 25" Mullerworks, 13tw, I am working on it and one lot of RWS R100 looks promising. Wind hasn't let up here since March 1st to make any test substantial. I'm no expert, but PM if you want my take on twist rates, I do pay attn to detail.

Rifle easily balances at about 2.5" infront of the mag.

Nice! Just curious, does the TT Diamond work without issues with the RimX? Do you have to do anything special?
Nope sear height is fine, totally a non-issue. Months ago I called Zermatt directly to ask this question and they said no worries with Trigger Tech.
I’ve been running the TT diamond in my RimX for awhile now and haven’t had any issues. I have it set to 8oz.
I called yesterday and asked about trigger tech diamonds and bix n Andy tacsport and they said no issues with the rimx

@oldrifleman I love the classic target scopes... Sure the new glass coatings and stuff are better but nothing fits an old target rifle like period correct glass!
Yeah,they just look right and many a great score was shot using them.

It does the job for a 22 or a low recoiling rifle but coming from using accu-tac on my other rifles. Its definitely a step down.
Just had a Gen1 Vudoo built by Rachel Precision. This thing is beautiful and shoots amazing with just random lots of ammo I had at the house.

Yes Sir groups are at 50y. I will get to stretch it out Friday afternoon while setting up for my club match.
Alexander Arms .17hmr. This thing is an absolute blast to shoot!
It would be fun to have a pair like this and shoot both in practice matches against each other. However, I would be afraid I would put a mark on the Winchester.

Had to break out the 40X Build last night and shoot a few small groups.

The Pacific Tool & Gauge has their own Remington 40X copied actions. They are fairly nice and work well. Mine above is a TRUE Remington 40X (722) Navy trainer from 1964 converted to repeater and using the PT&G Bolt assembly. Here is a picture of it before the conversion.
This is my first 40x fresh from modcam for his repeater magic and added a 13T MW barrel, the chassis is just back from shortbus for the paint.
Got it all put together and the scope level out and off to do some test shooting. I must say the first batch of center x was a hit. Modcam and shortbus are 2 of the best in there fields..
I do love the rock vise from arrow products. This is a very very nice bench vise.. It locks tight and holds the 26 pound rifle with ease. Then when I wanted to find the balance point I could just loosen it up and move rifle in the chuck until the sweet spot was found..
These was shot of a porch rail with a GC @50.

Awesome Build Dude!! Johnathan is a wizard with the 40X's. Buy some LONG magazine springs for those metal vudoo mags from Hoz & Shield. It will make them 100% reliable.
Dont be afraid to run some hotter Eley out of it!!
On another note I need a link to that vice!!.

Yes. Thank you for the lecture. Rim40x is a shortened term for rimfire 40x.
Call it whatever you like but PT&G calls it a Remington 40X rimfire action repeater...nowhere is it called a Rim40X

Now I know this is an older post …but I have seen several different mods for adding weights to the oryx. Did you just drill holes and nut the screws or drill and tap for the forend weights? THANKS
The inside weights are cast lead in a custom mold that fits inside the fore end cutouts. Two of the screws that attach the arca rail are changed to longer screws and then threaded into the lead weight with a jam nut in a counter bore on top.
The side weights are drilled to match the front screw side panel spacing, counter sunk, covered with heat shrink and attached using longer flat head screws.
If I remember correctly, side weights are 10 oz, each and internal weight is 2 1/2 lbs. I can look up exact weight for internal if you need that info.

Just got my first 22mag set up. It’s a Volquartsen Lightweight topped with a Hawk 4-12 sending them through a SiCo Sparrow. It seems to really like the Armscor 40gr JHP. Here is a 5-shot group it laid down at 50yds today - this is pretty typical at 50 with this combo thus far. At 100yds it gives me right around an inch and the smallest so far was .7”
