Yeah, but like almost all the brands that were good once, the torch passes back and forth. Plus, older units were still built well with not much tech other than a capacitor and compressor. Now, the government mandated changes and efficiency requirements require motherboards, two-stage blowers and compressors and all other circuitry.

Notice that almost all now come with limited 5-year warranties and are expected to require replacement around eight years.

I have a Goodman unit that’s on it’s 31st year. I started with a pair of them. The other one went 29 yrs. If this one blew up tonight - it doesn’t owe me anything.
