Has your employment of a red dot made you more accurate?

So third 9mm handgun. 6moa green dot sight (convinced in a previous thread by @308pirate ) is going on it once my fun account recovers (just paid 2 tax stamps). Threaded. Partly for fun but might carry in in safariland holster. Have a light for it.

Should I get night sights for it or not? I'm thinking probably not.

Pass on night sights for sure. If you do replace factory sights I would get a front with a fiber optic insert and a plain rear.

I have tfo's on my m&p. Skipping on them makes it slightly cheaper.

It isn't even close to the same.

In daylight / low light you are picking all kinds of reference from both eyes as to where your pistol is. In the dark, you're either grooved or you're not. And one eye in a straw isn't gonna do shit other that find that POA.

In fact a standard NS is far easier as the glow is visible to your peripheral vision at all times. The dot, if the angle is wrong at the high 2, that error will grow as you extend. Make sure to include some fun stuff too, like pick the weapon up off a table / the ground. The dot is very much harder to work with in the dark. Reference beyond how the gun feels in your hand is largely gone in the dark.

Even if we were to disregard all the other advice in the thread about confirming your index, there's a product fix for this issue as well. Primary Arms' vulcan dot reticle has training wheels, and I'd be surprised if the concept doesn't get widely adopted.

an RDS certainly held me be more accurate and acquire targets faster than irons but both have their downside. same for pistols i suppose but i havent made the jump on pistols yet. maybe if my eyes crap out. i'm a crappy pistol shooter though and they are hard from me to get use to, it wasnt a natural thing like the rifles were.

Depends on the use case. If I'm shooting a temporary meme division (revolver open) it helps, especially on SHO/WHO stages.
