Regarding the comment, "I don't see how Tulsi was ever a Democrat," I suspect part of it is because she's from Hawaii, where you pretty much have to be Democrat to get elected. I've known some fairly conservative black (and white) judges who ran as Democrats in predominantly black districts in AL, because there wouldn't be a chance of getting elected running as a Republican (which they probably would have if they were running in an area with a different constituency). I don't necessarily agree with this strategy, but it has been successful for them at times.
