I had a bad experience with these critters on the Island of Bali, Indonesia. They tell you, "hold on tight to everything in your hands, on your face (eye glasses, hats), etc, etc, because the monkeys will try to take it all, and they will." And they were right. Especially if you are eating or drinking. They'll take that first. They congregate in all the tourist temple sites, etc. All the tourist advisors warn you to secure everything you can. I was there in 2002 so smart phones were not prevalent at that time. But now, oh yeah... keep that sucker hidden or, at least secure with a chain.
