We don't eat a ton of eggs. There is usually part of a dozen in the fridge, but we don't buy a dozen every week. Now there is three fucking dozen eggs in the fridge! WTF! Why? Because they're valuable now? Wimmens.
Yeah. Just like covid. People had entire rooms storing toilet paper.

I can empathize.

My wife doesn't even own guns in some of these calibers.

NATO was designed to:
Keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down.
It has essentially outlived it's usefulness as clearly our principals no longer align with the Europeans at all.

My Danish grandmother (RIP) hated the Germans, and when Germany unified after the fall of The Wall she was certain that they would try to take over Europe again within my lifetime.

Imagine the stories this collection can tell.

A gunfighter and outlaw who had been just a bit too slow on the draw on his final showdown, mortally wounded but still able to ride out of town into the desert. Knowing that death is inevitable by the gaping wound in his side, he finds a rock outcropping and buries his accumulated loot under a mound of pebbles, thinking that if he were to survive his injuries by a miracle, he might come back for it at a later time. Once again cursing the 'coward' who had opened fire on him with a rifle from the second floor of the town's guest house, he sets off into the desert under a blistering noonday sun. "Thomas Graves, you card cheatin', betrayin' bastard. I should have shot you when I had the chance long ago", he muttered as he walked. He knew that a certain old medicine man lived far out in that direction and maybe he could do something about his injury. He continued walking, until exhaustion, heatstroke, and blood loss caused him to collapse among the gravelly sand of the wide, barren emptiness. His final thoughts drifted to a very special lady whom he knew was still waiting for him far away. Someone who he could have started a new life with, but had left behind to continue pursuing the ways of the highwayman...

I wish I had that, when I started we programmed the Honeywell controls with boxes of punch cards stored in a filing cabinet next to the EWS. We eventually got a disk reader added, the floppies were about the size of a vinyl album
When I met my wife she was carrying a box full of punch cards. Cutest little office girl I ever met. She worked for the Vets
Office at the college. We’ve grown old together, and gone from punchcards to AI.

When I was very young my Dad's work had 8" disks and a magnet hard drive.
A couple of years ago my dad brought home a hard drive from work that needed to be destroyed. He doesn't remember the capacity but said that it came from a DAC computer at a chemical plant. It was a good 4 or 5 inches tall and a very small capacity. I remember looking it up at the time and I think it was $3,000+ back in the day. Brain wants to remember $13000 but I think that is off.
