I remember watching High Chaparral in the late 60's when my dad was stationed at Sembach AFB.
My first experience with camp robbers was in the cascades of Oregon, I was in camp at lunch time and the fire pit was just coals from the night before. I ate most of my sandwich and chucked the remaining few bites into the fire pit. I had seen these weird fearless bluejay things around camp earlier then one cruised into grab my leftovers out of the fire pit, I watched as it stood in the coals and the feathers start smoking! I'm guessing not many nerves in the feet.
Still called "Coke" across most of the South ;-)

I was elk hunting with a buddy about 20 years ago. We had found a nice spot to glass over a meadow, and he had laid a pair of orange foam earplugs out on the ground next to his foot. A few minutes later; “Hey, that f’n bird just stole my ear plug.”
That is a very interesting take. Meant to be funny, but with some motivation and direction, a quite achievable objective.

First time I heard that was 1988 outside Fayetteville, NC and I was wondering what planet I had landed on!
That and the checkout-ladies at the Piggly-Wiggly who wanted to discuss my grocery purchases. "I've never tried those Triscut biscuts before? Are they good? Progresso soup? I didn't even know we sold that. We're a Campbells family, you know." It was a shock for a Type-A Northerner who just wanted to pay for some food and get out!
In retrospect... it was more civilized, so I should have appreciated it more.
