8.6 blackout 8.5” barrel gas port size

Had a customer bring in a Ruger SFAR with an 8.6 blackout barrel. He wants it chopped to 8.5”, threaded, and recontoured for a pistol length gas system. Does anyone have an idea of roughly where to start for gas port size on a barrel like this?

I built an 8.6 Blackout SBR using an 8" barrel. My gas port size is 0.0995" (see pic).

FWIW, today was the first time I could get it out to the range (awful weather over the last few months; open air range that is subjected to Wx), to put rounds downrange. Shot both supers (210gr) and subs (300gr) with ZERO adjustment to my gas block!!!
