Hey guys,
I´m looking for a piggyback red dot for my SPR.

The scope is a ZCO 210 and I want to mount the red dot in front of the elevation turret.
This turret is .87" high (above the scope body).

The mount is from innogun and this is how the mount clamp looks like:

This alone will be .6" high, and I have to add an adapter plate of some kind (depending on the red dot I use):

With the bottom thickness of the red dot, I´m guessing that I´m already above the turret with the lenses.

I thought about the Holosun HE509T-RP-X2 as the sight, but realized that the mounting system is a bit akward.
You have to install an adapter plate under the red dot, to fit the adapter plate of the mount, so two adapter plates would be involved and all-in-all it will make a little tower on its own.

So guys, which red dot would you choose with my scope and mount and how would you attach it to the mount?
:)

I am not "trying" to sell you anything, but Ive got a new in box 36mm forward cantilever Spuhr mount. I bought it for the ZCO 2-10, but never bought the scope, just thought about it when I read this post. Wasn't really looking to move it because I like to keep mounts on hand in all tube sizes, but I don't foresee using it anytime soon either. (spuhr makes top halves for red dots, a couple pics of mine below:

Well, thanks guys for the input, but I do have a mount from innomount and don´t want to change the whole thing.
And shipping it to the Black Forest would be a thing too.
;)

You can see the upper mount clamp in my first post.

Let me ask you in another way, like step-by-step:

First of all, which Red Dot (enclosed, red, circle of death. lightweight) would you recommend for my application?

Gotcha. Not sure I would put a Holosun on top of a ZCO just for the sake of principle but if you are looking for an enclosed dot with a circle reticle your options may be limited a bit. As you can see I'm partial to the Steiner MPS as it's lighter and less obtrusive than the ACRO though maximum brightness is about one-half setting lower than the ACRO if that is of concern.
What is the application for this setup?

Which principle?

The application will be hunting predators mainly, in brushland and forest, sometimes open field.
The circle or the Red Dot itself is for quick shots or shots nearby, when even the 2x-magnification might be to big.

Enclosed because of the dirt and debree when going through brushes or climbing hills.

With the circle, I do hope, I might to able to do quicker snap shots.

I think you will be fine with your original idea.

My concerns are, that it will sit high above the elevation turret.

The Holosun 509 itself is pretty high at the bottom, and I will have to add two adapter plates instead of one.

If I would take a Red Dot with any footprint (Picatinny, RMR, ...) I would need only one plate on the mount, and the bottom of the dot might be lower.

This is why I recommended the Spuhr, its a 2.25 height forward cantilever with a single mount atop the top ring. The Steiner EPS mounts low over the top. 4.0" HOB.

I saw the MPS on your combos and googled it, because I know you know some and a bit.

Weird that Steiner is a German manufacturer and I know nothing about their red dot.
To my relief, I´m running a MX7 4-28 on my long range rifle.

What I´ve found about the MPS sounded promising.
Just some complaints about the battery life.
How is your experience in that compartment with the MPS?

I´m honestly considering to order me one.

(I´m still curious though about the principle-thingy you´ve mentioned earlier.)

Principle is putting a $300 Chinese optic on top of a ZCO lol.

That being said I have holosun on my pistols and rifles.
