B14r hard closing ? Cock on close?

Ha, I get it. The only reason I care is because my 5 year old son will be shooting it too. But I suppose that still wouldn’t matter too much. I guess I just like machinery to run well and if there are things I can tune/optimize, I try to.

I personally haven’t talked to Bergara, but everything I’ve seen online has been people claiming they don’t provide parts. The few people you’re talking about got parts from Bergara?

I'll say if you want to be picky, you need to start at the level of a well assembled Rim-x or Vudoo, but they cost 2-5x more for the attention to the little details. That's what you're paying for, is those things that might not matter but they feel better.

Yes, Bergara will send out parts. You need to ask them and you may need to wait for them to get new stock from Spain.

I’ve polished my bolt ramp on mine and it seemed to help a little, but honestly the best thing I did to aide this process was to switch to a long dragon scale bolt knob from Anarchy Outdoors. That really smoothed everything out with better leveraging.

First and foremost, this guy's rifle is not working properly. He is experiencing a issue that will only worsen with time and advising him to buy a big bolt know from AO is not good advice IMO.
If COC "doesn't bother him" he never should have posted this thread.
The Bergara is noted for having a hard bolt lift and the bolt knob might help with that but it won't fix his rifle's problem.
I would recommend he speak to Bergara CS to seek a remedy as this is something I am pretty sure they have seen before.

Regarding parts from Bergara - I had a firing pin break on my daughter’s B14R after 3 years of competitions. A five minute phone call that was answered on the 2nd or 3rd ring, and they sent me a replacement. Now, it was the wrong part (they sent the striker), but I called back and they sent the correct one. That’s been my limited parts experience with them.

I own 2 B14Rs. The larger bolt knobs help a ton to smooth any clunkiness out. I did slightly polish the older one to reduce the hump that you feel when first closing the bolt. It’s still there, just less abrupt.

I'm pretty sure expecting perfect timing on a production line gun is crazy. I don't see it on half the customs I've handled.

We are not discussing "perfect timing". It's not off by a little but a lot to COC and that is 100% incorrect!
I would EXPECT Bergara to repair it or at least provide answers to the OP to make it work as intended.

I’ll just put it out that I don’t expect that from a production gun. I’m just sharing my experiences with the rifle.

Also, good to know about Bergara sending spare parts. That runs counter to what people said in this thread earlier and what others have said in various other forums. But that’s great if they’ve changed their policy.

As for vudoo or rim-x, yeah I know they’d be smoother. But that little extra in how they feel isn’t worth $1,200 for a rimfire for me. But that’s where tuning comes in. If I can spend a couple hours to make the rifle feel better for me, I’m going to do it.

The biggest factor is parts availability and that’s my only real gripe with Bergara that I didn’t know before buying the barreled action. I like to buy spare parts for all my guns to have on hand. But it looks like that may end up being slightly moot now. We’ll see. I haven’t contacted them about anything yet. I’m just taking measurements and making safe adjustments so far and seeing how things go.

Man, I'm going at it all wrong. I keep buying more guns so if one goes down I have 2 more 🤣

I buy parts for my frankenbuilds. But if I buy a fully assembled rifle they can take it back and make it work.
