lol these scopes have been on rifles for over a year in testing boss! We have done shit to them you’d never even remotely do to an actual competition rifle and they haven’t failed!Don't brag until those 3 scopes have made it through a season or two without breaking.
I think most of us agree that the scope is impressive, but March has virtually no established support or customer service record to stand on in the US (yet).
If one of those scopes go down, come back and tell us how long that customer will be without his Gucci glass.
People complain a lot about scopes going down and being gone for a long time... Maybe don't blow $4k on a scope without having a back up?
Brandon has said over and over they will send you a loaner...Or one can just spend their $4k on a scope from a manufacturer that’ll have it turned around in a week if there’s a problem lol…
Seriously, I hate to keep kicking a dead horse here, but after-purchase-support is a big deal, and not everyone wants to (or can afford to) choose between buying another $4k scope for “just in case” or else having to wait weeks/months to straighten out an issue.
I really like this new March (and am considering getting one), but until there’s an option for service besides sending it back to Japan, I’m going to be holding off for now.

I should point out that there is a reason why it's a Gen 2 and not a new model. The March-FX 5-42X56 HM was first released in 2019. The gen 2 has an enhancement to the optical formula, new turrets (Shuriken, which have been around for 3+ years, though the writable version of the Shuriken is new but it's a simplified version of the Shuriken with the locking mechanism removed,) and various marking changes. It is not a completely new design; it has a long track record of usage.Don't brag until those 3 scopes have made it through a season or two without breaking.

In discussion with a seller in Canada, even the Gen 1 version has been rock solid. This is in contrast to the 4.5-28, which has had a variety of different issues and doesn't appear to be as robust a design as the 5-42.I should point out that there is a reason why it's a Gen 2 and not a new model. Good story,I've got a few March scopes including a Gen1 5-42, several 3-24's and a 1.5-15. I can honestly say I have run them hard with zero issues. Every one but the 1.5-15 were bought used here. My oldest 3-24 is probably 10 years old and has had several barrels shot out under it. Several high end scopes require sending overseas if I remember correctly. Is what it is and complaining is pointless. If it's a deal breaker buy something else. March has features I want so March it is.....optics needs/wants are very subjective.
Keep looking. But a word of caution; don't hold your breath.FedEx still hasn’t delivered my free sample…![]()
I did things to the pre production model no person should ever do to an optic! One was slammed into the ground in rock hard enough to bend the rings on a very reputable mount and the scope tracked fine. We have had them fall off barricades and land scope first attached to 25# prs rifles, get knocked over or triped over, smacked with rubber mallets during testing and bounced off I dunno how many props during testing and have never had any issues with them. Shit we had one that fell so hard it bent the 4mm thick tube(over twice the rest of the market) and still tracked perfectly fine. The 5-42 is a very robust design and while the prs edition is new with some updated from the gen 1 the design isn’t it’s been used for some time.We need @C_Does to start an offshoot channel where he buys a scope, purposely breaks it, then makes videos chronicling his experience with customer service.

You are exactly correct the 4.5-28 and the 5-42 are not the same scope the 4.5-28 has had some historical issues that have since been corrected. The 5-42 is build like a tank!In discussion with a seller in Canada, even the Gen 1 version has been rock solid. Obviously this depends on how many scopes I have available, March is absolutely making efforts to alleviate any strain on shooters during any potential down time. This scopes designed and built to compete in PRS, as a result of that I’ve made it very clear the competitor has to have a means to get back up and running should they have a failure. I will say the reality is I think we’re thinking the repair cycle is months and that isn’t the case regardless of loaner or not. I’ve had preproduction scopes that I wanted updated to production specs get back in 4 weeks which required a complete scope disassemble to incorporate.I must not be reading the same thread or missed it… I think it’s been mentioned they’d like to have loaners available at some point, but don’t recall that being a thing just yet?
Those orders are in fact in!! Had another TT swap story yesterday. You guys still in here arguing because I didn't name any names???? Jeeezus!
I can tell you that I setup a side stage at a Rimfire match I put on recently with the March on my rifle for the sole purpose of getting people behind it. The guy that stands out the most was blown away by this optic and actually wanted to put his TT on the bench next to it. 5 different shooters compared them SXS and guess who ordered a March the next day?? I shot NF for several years. I knew there was better options for me. I could have shot anything I wanted, but I chose NF because it fit me the best. NF while not a sponsor in anyway was always great to me. I never EVER had a issue with NF. One of the last matches I shot with NF my gun actually fell off a barricade and landed scope first on the concrete. I trusted the scope so much that I chose to shoot the stage without going to check zero... Guess what!? It held zero.
I chose to leave names out of my OP because I respect NF and would not hesitate to continue to run their optics. Are they the best glass on the market?? No.. they know this though. I have literally shot every major players glass in this game. I chose NF because of many reasons that suited my taste in optics. Everyone has a different taste. Everyone has a different opinion.
The March fit every bill that I asked for in a scope and surpassed it with absolutely the best glass I have looked through. Originally stated in the OP dont take my word for it. See for yourself....
I can tell you that hundreds of people have looked through this scope since its been mounted on my rifle. With the exception of 2 people that had their mind made up before looking, everyone has been more than impressed. They love the turrets! 99% love the reticle ( only complaint is wanted 3 mils above for hold unders) not a issue at all for me.. I hold over!
I have buddies that own 3 letter scopes in the 8-40 range that are switching. I have buddies that have Canadian tubes that are switching. I have buddies that are sponsored and WANT to switch. I honestly don't care to argue or change your mind on this forum. I gave my opinions which I see as facts. Nothing more and nothing less....
Feel free if you ever see me at a Match to come take a look through this optic.
I cant tell you this though.... regardless of what you say when doing it, You wont look back through your optic and be as happy as you once thought you were!
side note- most of you should slide away from the computer more and go SHOOT!!
I’m not aware of any other dealers at the moment. I would contact Brandon and order through him if it was me. @OneWeakAssStang on hereWho sells March in the US besides Eurooptic? I think CSTactical said they might be carrying them.
LOL!@OneWeakAssStang

I love it when people let me know they know something, then don’t share it for the good of the thread participants. That YOU are aware of.
Only review I could find atm
Actually, some people do cry about Richard, they just do so behind closed doors...do you guys cry about Richard from CS Tactical when he post to sell a zco… no you don’t.
I know there have been some responses to this already but speaking from personal experience, the Gen 1 had some optical distortion from about 60-70% out from center to the edge of the periphery. My eyes are very sensitive to distorted or blurry periphery in any scope design (one of the worst I had seen was the NF NX8 2.5-20 when it was first released; however, to Nightforce's credit they resolved that in later manufacture and now the "newer" NX8 2.5-20's are very impressive optically). I was thrilled with the March 5-42x56 Gen 2 version as it corrected this optical distortion from Gen 1 quite well, meaning the image sharpness is very clean from edge to edge. I have only had a pre-production version of the Gen 2 5-42 but based on my experience I am not surprised that so many are really liking this scope as I think for PRS style of shooting (where 98% of the time you are between 12x - 20x magnification) this scope is absolutely stunning, in fact, in this mag range I liked it better than all my other alpha scopes I was testing at the time including the TT 7-35 and I was very hard pressed to find any distinct advantage the TT provided (again within this mag range, where the TT excelled was above 25x).Are the Gen 1 and Gen 2 versions the same glass wise? Are the differences between Gen 1 and Gen 2 reticle and turret/mechanical differences only?
