I saw the 1752 in a museum somewhere, years ago. How he did that is unbelievable

Michaelangelo said that "the statue was always inside the block of marble. I just have to remove material to get to it. "

(That's a paraphrase.)

Sirhr

The actual quote is: "Bambino, el stattuetto was a-all ways inside-o de beeg marbleini! I a justa hava to breako it Outta de blocko! Gorlami."

I had to do a bit of search but that statue wasnt Mikeyangelo, though the quote may well be his. Seeing the whole thing is truly amazing what he did with a rock.

I miss the good old days... when the 'Hickory Shower' sent a much better message than all the coddling today...

Filthy hippies... Don't want to get hit in the head or ride the lightning? Don't attack people.

Peaceful protests... great. "Mostly Peaceful" protesting... "Whack whack whack whack whack.... bleed." That's how it works.

Having "Ridden the Lightning " in a professional capacity, if I'm ever threatened with being Tazed, I'm out. I'll put pepper spray in my eggs though.

I'm the opposite... I have also done both in the same a professional capacity. I'm fine with the taser. OC fucked me up for days. CS... that was like fresh cut grass and sizzling steak compared to OC. OC was just miserable. Especially because after getting eyesful, we had to go to armbar take down drills, cuffing, then laps before we got the hose. It sucked. Did I mention sucked??

Never do the taser via alligator clips, though... those mothers hurt!

Neither O.C.or C.S bug me terribly. O.C is cake. I expose myself accidentally at home every time I make Reaper hotsauce. C.S. wasn't awesome by any means, but not terrible. Then again, I was a Chemical Operations Specialist, so I did it a bunch of times.

60 years ago Eric Burdon and the Animals… with no fancy studio gear, no auto tune, no legion of producers or music stylists…

Took an Appalachian folk tune and in a single 15 minute take, created one of the iconic rock songs of all time.

It was called talent…. And seems like it’s a lost art today.

PS just watched Gimme Shelter for the first time in years… incredible to see a 26 year old Mick Jagger and the rest of the stones at Muscle Shoals laying down four iconic tracks in a couple of days. While swigging from Jack Daniels bottles and tapping worn out snakeskin boots for rhythm. The film remains iconic for so many reasons!

It's a shame they (Mick and Keith) treated Mick Taylor the way they did. His contributions were incredible. I can listen to his guitar work on Time waits for no one, Can't you hear me knockin' and Monkey man over and over.

A German shepherd, a Doberman and a cat died...

In heaven they faced God, who wanted to know what they believed in.

The German shepherd said "I believe in discipline, loyalty and training to my master".

"Good" said God. "You may sit on my right side".

The Doberman said "I believe in love, care and protection of my master".

"Ah, you may sit on my left" said God.

Then God looked at the cat and said "and what do you believe in"?

The cat replied " I believe you are sitting in my seat".

In my youth, late 1970s it pains me to admit, I was staying at Pine Mountain Settlement School in KY for a week or so. A church group from South Lyon, Michigan was there. They were singing Amazing Grace to the tune of House of the Rising Sun. Wayyy cool. And it works well the other way, too.

Good times, they were. Picking poke salad and bailing hay while watching for snakes during the day with Rev Boggs, and singing around a fire at night. And then there was this red haired girl…. Deep sigh.

As dawn broke on June 6, 1944, 20-year-old Private Robert Hillman was meticulously checking his gear one last time before boarding the C-47 plane that would be heading for coastal France.
His eyes caught a detail that made him smirk: the parachute that would guide him back to earth was stamped with the logo of the Pioneer Parachute Company, a factory just a short drive from his hometown of Manchester, Connecticut.
A heartbeat later, a full-blown laugh burst from him, cutting through the heavy silence and drawing sharp glances from the taut, battle-ready paratroopers standing around him.
“What’s so damn funny, Hillman?” a gruff voice snapped, laced with pre-jump nerves.
Grinning, still half-disbelieving his own eyes, Hillman replied, “This chute’s not letting me down.”
“How do you figure that?” another voice, skeptical and edged with tension, called out.
“Because my mom works at Pioneer,” Hillman said, tapping the fabric, “and I just spotted her initials sewn into my chute.”
Could it have been a staggering twist of fate on one of the most monumental days in history, or was it something more?
Hillman’s parachute did its job. He came through the war and later carried a tattered piece of that chute back home to show his mother, a quiet testament to their shared moment in time.
