I think a lot of people overlook the fact that he actually crossed the Delaware to take Trenton . Have you been to Trenton ? Like even drove thru . He coulda been car jacked . And man if he got some bad food from one a them Bodegas , Fuck it's over . Could have crushed the Rebellion right there .Oddly, they didnt kill that many, only 22 but near 900 prisoners. A complete surprise and rout. God bless George Washington, IMHO one of the great men in all of history. How many men walk away from power? For a good read on him His Excellency George Washington.

During the Battle of Trenton, which followed Washington's crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas night, Washington's army killed 22 Hessian soldiers. The Americans also captured a significant number of Hessians, with 896 taken prisoner.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
- Killed: 22 Hessian soldiers, including their commander, Colonel Johann Rall.
- Wounded: 83 Hessian soldiers were wounded.
- Captured: 886 to 900 Hessian soldiers were captured.
- American Casualties: The American forces suffered 3 killed and 6 wounded during the battle, according to The History List and Wikipedia.
I hear what you are saying and I am very saddened by the state of the country I love so much, however I believe men like Washington exists today. Fortunately I don’t think we are at the point yet where they (we) need to act yet. This is still the absolute best country to live in thanks to men like Washington. In 1776 there was nothing comparable, there wasn’t another option. I hope I am not wrong, nor have the chance to find out.As someone who has Washington blood running through his veins, I’m afraid that those types of Americans are very few far and in between these days, basically nonexistent. I hope we never have to find out. And yes sir, I know we got at least a handful of Washington like people, but it would take more than that if the need ever arose.I hear what you are saying and I am very saddened by the state of the country I love so much, however I believe men like Washington exists today. As messed up as this country is I would still die for it if need be. Semper Fi

this is the problem. the men who have died for it or would still have not really died for what the founders envisioned and gave us. for at least the last 150yrs they have died for what they were convinced and believed they were fighting for. they were lied to,manipulated and sacrificed for entirely other things. many of those were things that the founders warned against.I hear what you are saying and I am very saddened by the state of the country I love so much, however I believe men like Washington exists today. Yes, disastrous things like allowing women to vote, be judges, preachers, policemen, firemen, serve in the military without having to be in the female branch, supervisors and managers over men, school administrators, sit on school boards, etc, etc.this is the problem. the men who have died for it or would still have not really died for what the founders envisioned and gave us. for at least the last 150yrs they have died for what they were convinced and believed they were fighting for. they were lied to,manipulated and sacrificed for entirely other things. many of those were things that the founders warned against.
There may be only a handful of Washington like people but there are a shit ton of people who would follow them and do what is necessary.I hope we never have to find out. And yes sir, I know we got at least a handful of Washington like people, but it would take more than that if the need ever arose.
This should be required reading and posted in every fricking classroom in America. Thanks for posting.
