Join contestThis one time, at band camp…I think that this guy's knowledge was proven to be extremely limited before... and that he spends a lot of time talking out the side of his neck.
The above clip demonstrates that he has no clue what a Ball/API/APIT or SLAP round will do to a human. That story was complete fabrication.
I'm willing to bet that this is no isolated occurrence as well.
You’re years late on this
He is tough to listen to. Ive listened to a few of his interviews over the years and they always have a couple what the fuck moments. Reminds of some ranger buddies so its really not his fault I guess.
Not a gun guy, not a ballistics guy and really only talks about what he has observed.
I know SOTIC trained ranger snipers who I have had to help zero their guns and set their shit up. Good guys but they only know what they were told, which was just enough to pull the trigger to mostly get hits on target within a couple shots.
Not uncommon for guys from LE/sniper community to really unimpressed you when it comes to guns/long range employment of the rifle.
Man, the bullshit is getting spread awfully thick !
Common sense should tell you it’s bullshitTim Kennedy said something quite similar. So many clowns out there who should know better, spreading bullshit.
When I was infantry '97-'00 at Ft Campbell, it was a bullshit line that was "common knowledge" in our circle. Well, now that the mythbusters have demonstrated it's bullshit, even saw that Demolition Ranch disproved it as well, people should know better.
I saw a video from what i'm pretty sure was Iraq, humvee chasing after insurgents that had fired at them. Came around the corner and they were skirting the wall and the douce gunner let 'em have it. Killed the guys pretty good, but none of 'em emploded nor had limbs ripped off from near misses. Read another account of a soldier that was removing the barrel, but didn't clear it first, and supposedly went off and shot him through the gut. IIRC, he survived. I don't know the validity of that story though, could be complete bullshit. There is a lot of that going around.
That’s pretty much what I have seen when hunting with .50.I used to know a guy that hunted javelina with a .50 bmg. He always told me that it leaves a quarter size hole going in and a quarter sized hole going out and that all bets are off if you hit bone.
I put a nice quarter size hole through that old 1/2" steel target of yours with my .50. That was fun, sorry about your targetTim Kennedy said something quite similar. So many clowns out there who should know better, spreading bullshit.

Branden and I have played with enough .50s and have enough common sense to know it is absolute BS. I was pissed when Kennedy mouthed off that BS. But, what do you expect from him?Common sense should tell you it’s bullshit
Barnes was making 647grn Barnes X projos for the .50 BMG. I have a couple of those 647grn Barnes loaded up with 245grns of 20N29 behind them, makes for a lot of fun squirrel hunting. That’s pretty much what I have seen when hunting with .50.
Except with those thin jacketed 500 grain Hawk bullets…
and many a target stand and t-posts for targets....fucker......sorry about your target![]()
Headspace and timing was easy, just ensure you have the go/no go keys with you. Tit in the window, thread in and back off three clicks always worked for me.I hate the .50. Outside of limited envelope there is almost always a better choice.
Its hard as fuck to control and accurately shoot without a T&E which means your shit out of luck mounted on a gun truck. It has no safety (unless you stick a spent case under the butterfly), pain in the ass dealing with headspace/timing, is heavy as fuck and limited belt size. The 50s we were running with build in the 1930s and still had wood handles.
I hated running one and would have MUCH preferred a 240 or even a MK19. Much better platforms to either quickly put accurate rounds on target or blow the fuck out of it with HEDP. I have seen all 3 used against vbieds and cars trying to get close to a convoy and its not even close which one stopped them the quickest. 40 mike mike for the win.
Never got why people loved them. Sometimes bigger is not better. Unless were talking about girth and explosive payload![]()
New ones don’t require it.Headspace and timing was easy, just ensure you have the go/no go keys with you. Tit in the window, thread in and back off three clicks always worked for me.
I played with the old ones, I saw a Soldier in Iraq that had been njured because he failed to headspace and time his M2. He was on his third M2. We were ripping and I saw him putting the M2 into action when I asked him about headspace and timing. he looked surprised and I very clearly remember him saying "these take keys?" as he was looking around the M2New ones don’t require it.
I would have replied to buy American, but he isn’t accepting new friends at the moment
Makes no sense to send guys packing weapons they don’t know how to use, but I believe it happens.I played with the old ones, I saw a Soldier in Iraq that had been njured because he failed to headspace and time his M2. I gave him a quick lesson on it and out the wire we went. It was wild, and I was floored by this encounter. I couldn't wrap my head around the idea that a Soldier was plkaced on a weapon system that he was obviously not trained and qualified on.
All my guys were trained and qualified on every weapon system my BN had.
There was all sorts of "shenanigans" early Iraq!! It was a crazy place, chaotic.Makes no sense to send guys packing weapons they don’t know how to use, but I believe it happens.
Good on you for taking the time to train your dudes
Should have been proficient on those things before sergeant time training turned into an Xbox showdown. There was all sorts of "shenanigans" early Iraq!! It was a crazy place, chaotic.
2004?There was all sorts of "shenanigans" early Iraq!! It was a crazy place, chaotic.
05/06, 04 would have been even wilder but Samara Mosque bombing gave us a good taste of crazy.2004?
New ones don’t require it.
Great times. Truly the wild wild West. There was all sorts of "shenanigans" early Iraq!! It was a crazy place, chaotic.
