Done to perfection 👌!

Well, at least that's better than the latest "Omaha Steaks" commercial, where I see them make "burgers" out of really very good steaks. Why???? The "Filet Mignon" one is really frustrating. Why would you ruin a good steak like that by grinding it up? I don't want burgers... I want steak!

Here in North Carolina, our service members handle their business. I'd recommend talking to the "contractor" that was trespassing on a service members property. That's not possible, as he is no longer in a position to comment or trespass.

I think they hit 350 and the rules change to 300. Nhra can’t have anyone killed now that John is out of the car. He’s what kept the sport going
Not being combative, just asking a question, as I don't know......

Is there something in place now within the NHRA where the rules would actually change if 350 is broken ?

It seems like limiting speeds (to 300, or any other speed for that matter) would really harm the sport. Particularly if 350 had already been achieved and "now" speeds were limited to 300.

I think any changes will come down to are they stopping the cars in a safe distance or not. The move to 1000 feet was more that many existing tracks couldn't be expanded.

They won't limit the speed. They will limit the blower size, engine cubic inches, intake valve size or something else that restricts the ability to make horsepower. Kind of like what NASCAR did with restrictor plates.

I'm not really a big Drag Racing fan, but Jeebuz, you guys been seeing Britney Force lately ?

New World Record in Seattle last weekend. 341.85 MPH.

Breaks her New World Record in Sonoma this weekend. 343.16 MPH.

I grew up going to the Pomona Raceway.... where it all started 2 times a year. Go there amd get a Pit Pass. You'll see the teams completely tear down, inspect, and rebuild the engines between runs. It's an incredible experience. So many other countries and people cannot even begin to fathom or touch the engineering, technology, and knowledge of these teams... and its all done for fun and entertainment essentially.

Just another thing to *notice why a Chihuahua is not the same as, say, a German Shepherd. Yeah they're 99.9999% the same, because dog. But that 0.0001% is 1000 differences.

I think they’ll just chop distance again or reduce tire width. Still let’s everyone play the HP game but stops it by traction or distance

She holds 9 of the top 10 spots for speed record. I think all are from this year. She keeps getting faster.

I agree this will probably be what happens. I haven't read or heard any discussion about limiting top speed in a while, but I don't follow it like I used too.

This!!
If you have never been to a race and walked the pits you are missing out on unbelievable mechanical talent and speed.

Goodyear has been worried for a while the tire is rated for 340 and that is about all Goodyear can do with what they have. If you notice tire failures have also gone up a lot.
Someone needs to do something because someone is going to be killed. Sean Reed is in the hospital from a tire failure right now.

Goodyear collected every piece of that tire that could be located so they can figure out what happened. From their statements I don't think they are worried about the construction of the tires but more about foreign object damage. Safety Safari does a great job at keeping the track clean. After the finish line the car is towed back to the pits and then towed to the staging lanes. At Bristol those cars are towed right down the midway where thousands of spectators are eating, drinking and buying shirts and other stuff. A sharp edge in the concrete or asphalt or a thousand other things could cause a failure even a screw, bolt or any number of parts could come off a car during the burn out or going down the track can cause a failure.

So a little background for my statement. In a 5 minute walk I can be at one of the Goodyear research facilities. I know quite a few employees that live in town. The 340MPH has been the cut off, concern for several years now. Goodyear has not upgraded that tire for many years now. Tire failures are way up the last 2 years. People are getting hurt. someone is going to get killed.
Before the last upgrade, after Darrell Russell was killed, Goodyear had to settle with Russels wife. We are headed in the same direction again.
When they were hitting speeds in the 330's Goodyear issued a statement how the tire was good to 340. Now we are there and it is the same tire.
Explosion and destruction is way up also but hey it puts asses in the seats.

As far as things in place to limit speed, The rear gear 3.20:1 is specified as is the engine RPM 7900 and rear tire based on the tire growth. IIRC they can not exceed 350ish. The teams given enough time will get there but again they shouldn't be.

Oh and this discussion reminds me of the P320 discussion. Lots of assumptions on our parts and not much factual evidence.
