I knew a sequel would eventually come out. I hope it stands on its own as well as the first one did.

I've never seen the first one. I guess now is a good time to watch it.
I've always heard it referenced, and that it is a good movie. I don't know why I've never seen it.

Smell the glove album release party , Fuckin epic .
Don't forget, Spaceballs 2 is coming out in '27.Not a good movie... way, way better than that!
Definitely see it.
That said, you sort of have to be a 'classic Rock' fan and an early X-er or a later Boomer to 'get it.' The references to the entire Rock and Roll community and to the trend for "Rockumentaries" (Stop Making Sense, The Last Waltz, Gimme Shelter, The Song Remains The Same, Tommy, The Kids Are Alright, Floyd at Pompeii, Woodstock) all did 'band profiles.' So you sort of have to understand the "Rockumentary" culture to really get everything out of Spinal Tap.
They lampoon everyone, too. Zepplin, The Beatles, the Stones, Jethro Tull, early Metallica and metal, The Who... everyone who was great back then! Definitely download/rent/stream/buy DVD...
By way of tribute to the movie... when I bought my first ever DVD player in 1998 or so... the first movie I bought was "This is Spinal Tap." The second was Saving Private Ryan.
I will definitely be re-watching the original before seeing the sequal.

PS. Also going to see Happy Gilmore II. The original was awesome! And the reviews are great!

Well, meathead is involved. I'll pass.
Oh shit . Now I gotta watch again . Don't remember that line .Look, the bread is too small…
"Funny, she doesn't look druish."Don't forget, Spaceballs 2 is coming out in '27.
This is Rob, not his father Karl. Karl was much more tolerable. The only thing I don't like is that the fucking retard meathead Karl Reiner is in it and/or directing it. I hate to do anything that will put one red cent in that POS' pocket. Fucking Communist.
You sure it wasn't "Cleveland"?I saw them in Cincinnati, probably 1983 or so.
"What's it called?"I hope we finally get to hear the completed version of Nigel's musical trilogy in D minor, which of course is the saddest of all keys.
I think that may have been the problem. One of my favorites is from David St. Hubbins exclaiming, "We have a Stonehenge that is in danger of being trampled by a dwarf!"
To be replaced by,

It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World………Carl Reiner was hilarious. Died not long ago at 98. Wrote some of the iconic comedy of the 20th century.
He was sort of a New Deal/Tip O'Neill Democrat. But staunchly pro-American. His spoiled little hippie kid is a fat, Marxist weasel. And decidedly un-funny. (Though has had his moments in Spinal Tap. And The Princess Bride is a classic.)
An interesting Spinal Tap factoid... In Spinal Tap, Reiner wears a hat for the USS Coral Sea but with the wrong ship number on it... (which pissed of a lot of sailors who considered him the male Jane Fonda.) Later, when Reiner directed The Princess Bride, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits agreed to do the sound track on one condition... That the hat from Spinal Tap had to be included in the film. And it was... hanging on Fred Savage's nightstand.
Knopfler's soundtrack to The Princess Bride is, by the way, magnificent! If it didn't win an Oscar for best Sound Track, it should have!

Might have been then, it was at Riverbend. Did the cucumber bitThey did play Cincinatti in 1992... Part of their 'reunion' and an album tour, IIRC.
Didn't think they did any 'tours' before the movie came out in '84. But did do some TV comedy shows and small gigs as they were refining their act. So it could have been either!
They were a bit like the Blues Brothers... a skit done by Aykroyd and Belushi that just turned into a phenomena. IIRC, in 1978 or so, Belushi was the star of the number 1 TV show in America (SNL); the number 1 movie in America (Animal House); and the number 1 Album in America (Briefcase full of Blues.) The Blues Brothers were much bigger than Spinal Tap!!! But also helped inspire the "Mockumentary."

I am one of the few to catch your joke. You sure it wasn't "Cleveland"?
Oh, come on, y’all. Don’t you remember them being lost in the belly of the arena in Cleveland, trying to find the stage? At every turn in the labyrinth of passages to the stage, them shouting “Hello Cleveland!”, and then hitting another dead end and having to turn around? I was riffing off Cincinnati (not in the movie) vs Cleveland, which was. They did play Cincinatti in 1992... Part of their 'reunion' and an album tour, IIRC.

I never realized the ship’s mismatch on the hat. Will have to go back and check it out. Thanks! An interesting Spinal Tap factoid... People better hurry up and watch the original before we post all the good parts ;-)

Prime Video for $6I still haven’t seen the original. I really want to but can’t find it on streaming anywhere. I’ve heard about this movie my whole life and just haven’t gotten to it yet.
