If you’re measuring OAL to lands, removing the bolt or cleaning a folding chassis shines! Most people think of it as a way to transport or store the rifle which I never use it for
It’s not that recent, but I was running a KRG W3. Height over bore Bore height above the bag was a bit much but not bad, but I really wanted a couple feature changes:
- Shorter length from buttpad to front of magwell
- Chad Heckler’s Ergo-Vert grip
- Adjustable mag well for rimfire mags
I was eyeballing the KRG C4 and the ACC Elite; I tried the Elite with the dampers and was very impressed. That, plus a shorter length to buttpad and cheaper, led me to the Elite.

I went from MPAs to ATX AICS. The folders in the MPAs were rickety, but truthfully I just wanted to try something new. And the side weight situation was pretty limited at the time for MPAs. At first I was pretty unhappy with the ATX because the hinges were vaporware but eventually I got one, then spent another $400 in weights, then had a thumb rest custom 3D printed because they don't do MLOk(yes, now they do have a new model in MLOK). I'm pretty happy with the ATX chassis but it's not the smartest move. Any chassis that's supposed to support R700 custom actions should have an adjustable mag latch. I haven't had any issues yet but you should be able to adjust mag height. I have two comp guns and got an XLR Envy Pro with the additional PRS Comp kit for the second gun. There isn't a lick.of difference in the competitiveness of those two guns with different chassis. They'll both do the job. I will say I can make the ATX chassis gun heavier tho despite all the weights that the PRS Comp kit comes with in the XLR. All that said, I'd trade my XLR for another ATX chassis if I could. I've really grown to like that chassis.
I will say, the inlet MPA uses is impeccable. It is a different style than the traditional V block logic XLR uses. I trust it way more for non-bedding than most chassis manufacturers. It's more of a skim-bed style of contact.
Mostly used standard style stocks over my 23 years in the sport, McMillan first and then moved to Manners, but a few years back I wanted to see what the fuss was about so tried some MPA chassis and liked them but wanted to go back to lighter weight due to my lower back so back to my Manners. I also like the simplicity of the Manners with the mini chassis also.
Basically saying you don’t know what you like until you try them and something we may not like may be something you do like.
I've had All the MPA chassis models, hybrid was the favorite and real versatile, the Matrix was stellar but heavy!
I've had All the Manners models, the Tcs was real good, but also hard to get balanced without being super heavy too. Favorite is the Nightstalker currently and if the LRH-NV wasn't so hollow sounding, I'd love it more than the Nightstalker.
I've had several KRG chassis and selling my Whiskey3. It's great too, but I sorta don't love the magwell and found with heavy L3i mags, it won't feed awesome, anything else is fine tho. The X-ray was good for the price tho.
I've only had 2 MDT standard chassis and while not a great showing for the lineup of theirs, was a nice solid chassis, but I don't love their grip. MPA for the win in my book and why I modify the grips for all my chassis that I can fit them on. I do have 1 of 2 the HNT26 I owned and it's great for folding and light weight, wish the forend was a bit stiffer, the Crbn stock tho is great for my dedicated thermal gun..wish the grip was a bit straighter tho.
XLR used to get bashed by me for the AR butt stock attachment looking like an AR ass end but after having 3 Mag 4.0 and 1 3.0, the thumb shelf is MONEY and a favorite accessory for a chassis. These have become a replacement for the MPAs for that and ease of clamping into my RRS tripod in the dark (seems to be easier to clamp for some reason is all). The rest of the lineup hasn't been tried by me tho. Their NV rail is too high for clipon use but I read a modification can be done for it to be lower for that use.
Foundation, I've had 1 MG2 and 2 Centurions and 1 Revelation. I LOVE the revelation and the others are good but my fat thumb pad doesn't fit great but got ballsy and ground out a swale for my hand to fit better and it's what I'm running now. If you run a vudoo with MTU, plan on the rig weighing 16-18 pounds with scope but it will balance easier than the TCS.
I have a Russo laminate stock now, sort of a copy of a manners stock, that for a convention stock is AMAZING. Wish I had another one.
Limited use with the greyboe stocks and the McMillan variants but I like trying new stuff and each has a reason for liking it or trying it and I used try to do a lot of competition and try to still, but 22s and Fclass / Long range stuff along with the annual prairie dog trip have me looking at lots of options and most of my dislikes are rather nit-picky.

I went from an XLR Envy Pro to a Foundation Centurion. I didn’t really have any issues with the XLR, but after an incredibly dusty match, the chassis was filthy and just a PITA to clean properly.
The Foundation is mostly one piece, easy to clean and maintain, and in the end it just feels better to me. I’ve had better results with it too.

I’ve been running one variation or another of the same 1st gen Manners TCS w/ mini-chassis for ~4 years now… and while I’ve tried just about everything else out there, I still haven’t found anything I like better (yet).
I had a brief stretch running a MDT ACC Elite, but I didn’t like the all-aluminum recoil impulse as much compared to the Manners.
I’ve also tried more than a few Foundations (Centurion, MG2, both style Samsons) and wasn’t completely in love with those either, but if they ever make a stock with a more vertical grip like the Centurion, but much fatter like a TCS’ grip, I might try one again.
I also tried an MPA Vanquish recently, and while it was ok, still prefer the Manners/Foundation recoil-feel, and damn that’s a lot of screws to keep from getting loose lol.

Manners TCS to MDT acc elite. I switched because of the grip. The distance on the manners was to long and I wasn't as comfortable with my trigger hand.
Trying a chassis for the first time. XLR Element Mg. Lightweight hunting rifle that if I like it, will use for NRL Hunter. Time will tell.
I have pretty much tried and ran everything. I finally realized that I am a chassis guy and prefer the ACC Elite and the XLR Envy Pro. I tried to like the Foundations and Manners but just couldn’t get comfortable behind them.
KRG (bravo, whiskey), AI AX, Accuracy Obsession, Foundation Samson, ARC Xylo, JAE.
I have deprioritized the JAE and KRG offerings primarly on modularity and or weight preferences.
I find myself standardizing to AI AX, Obsession and Xylo. I wish the XYLO would sprout a folder option and that'd be great mix of everything I love.

I had an XLR Element chassis and switched to McMillan A6-7. I prefer the recoil deadening that the stock provides.
I went from a Foundation to an ACC Elite recently. Foundation looked great but wanted the adjustability of the chassis since it is my first year shooting PRS. With some work I got my LOP/cheek height/grip angle all the way I want it making recoil management easier for me. And adding weight/balance was much easier with the Elite. Happy with the change.
This is me 100%. I love my manners stocks. Most of my hunting rifles are outfitted with manners, so it was a no brainer for me to use one in competition. Now as I’m improving, I’m realizing the grip length doesn’t really fit me that well and I have to stretch to reach the trigger.
