As the title says, I expect to get a lot of different answers for this. The shop that a lot of us use or will use for barreled actions, has started to get away from using Impact actions due to customer service/shipping issues. Now, their preferred are Lone Peak. Possibly use Kauger if someone's needs to save a couple bucks. My question is this: Impacts would be one I usually tell folks to look at. I have looked at what other competitors are using across the country, and everyone has their favorite. If there were a "Top 3" Actions here, who would they be. tia

In my opinion if you are wanting to build a rifle in a caliber outside of the Short Action youll be paying a premium, if you want to go outside of Long Action, youll pay even more.

Then youll be stuck with very few prefit options.

Impact's best quality to me is that I can get their prefits from multiple places. I have other prefit actions and the options are quite a bit less.

I also mess with Magnum and 50 BMG actions, when you get to that point you dont get to be picky. Those actions and stocks that fit it difficult to find sometimes.

Whats wrong with the Zermat TL3? I have had good service with them.

Nothing. Excellent action. The Origin is a little cheaper so if you didn’t need an integrated recoil lug or plan to use AW mags then you can save about $400 and get the Origin. I have two TL3s and an Origin and then all work great.

The integral recoil lug on any action that allows for prefit barrels is worth the extra $$$. A trip to the gunsmith to set headspace on a new or different barrel and the ease of changing bolt heads is worth the extra money to me. I have 3 of them and in just a few minutes I can change out a barrel or caliber is why I bought into them.

You can do the same with the Origin pinned recoil lug. You don’t need an integral recoil lug to swap out prefits at home.

My favorite action is probably the Mausingfield, but it's no longer being made.

For 2 lug 90° actions, I really like the LP Fuzion.

If I was to buy an action today, I would be looking hard at the Kelbly Prometheus or BAT TR or Hammerhead.
