Remage style barrel options 2025

Any opinions on some quality remage barrels manufactures?

Is 12 weeks kind of what most companies doing for build time these days?
We offer two options:

1) Remage, standard lead time is 8 weeks and we can rush it as fast as 1 week for additional cost.
2) Custom install with the same lead time as option 1. The caveat here is that we need your action but when the action and barrel comes back to you it also comes with a laser engraved tag with all the critical dimensions on it to make you custom barrels without needing the receiver again. It essentially becomes a bespoke "prefit" for your receiver. It doesn't need to be done with us, and while I would prefer you come see us again, that tag has all the info needed for another shop to make you custom barrels. What I always tell people is that we don't need to do it but if someone says that it can't be done with the info on that tag be wary about sending them the work.

I'm happy to discuss further if you're still in need of support:

Josh at PVA gets my top vote. You can get a top shelf barrel from him with a barrel nut and it will be dandy in your action (need to have headspace gauges for any nut setup) and Josh makes good looking barrel nuts. Stand up guy and quality work. He also keeps action wrenches on the shelf if you don't already have them.

After that, I've had good results (and sometimes what I want is on the shelf) with James Kessler at Northland Shooters Supply. He's the guy for Criterion RemAge barrels. Keeps a decent variety on shelf in popular calibers, twists, tapers. Stocks a ton of headspace gauges. Second generation outfit and great guy to deal with.

In short, you can pick your poison.

Thank you for the recommendation and kind words, I appreciate it!

I second your comments about James over at NSS. I continue to do business with James for things that aren't barrel related and he's a great guy and takes good care of his customers, many of whom are also my customers. As much as I would be happy to have the OP come to us I know that if he goes to Northland he will be treated first rate.

You earned the recommendation. I've got several of your action wrenches and recommend them to others. Your barrels are great. You got first vote on barrels because nobody i know has gotten a turd out of your shop yet and those onnhere who had an issue, you clearly took care of them. Know several guys with your Hancock rifles and you literally led the industry on that idea.

Got my Zermatts from James because he had em on the shelf when i called him on other business. Got most of my headspace gauges from him or directly from Forster.
