ChatGPT vs Grok vs Gemini vs Applied Ballistics

I’ve played with several models. None lined up great to my applied ballistics. Granted they weren’t more than 10% off in drop they were pretty poor at wind
I've ran dof next to custom curves out to 1400yds with a bunch of bullets and it's within a tenth. Same with DOF to G7 conversions.

It's not stopping anyone, especially a competent shooter who can true their ballistics from hitting what they want.

AI is going to infinitely more powerful than a simple ballistic calculator so bitching about it it's like pissing in the rain.

Models meaning ai. - Claude, gtp4, etc. not other ballistic engines like dof.

I don’t think anything will replicate the cdm work that an has done as well

That said I really liked being able to ask it to show me the calculations and how it got the results. Yes I’m sure there’s book but it was cool to interact with the engines that calculate the ballistics.

Whether we want it to or not, AI is going to creep into most aspects of our lives just like the internet and cell phones have over the years. I can't imagine even AB will avoid some sort of AI integration 10 years from now ( @DocUSMCRetired ).

I just thought this was an interesting exercise to see where we are today in its current state.

AI has no intelligence. It is reinforced learning. The chatbots do word prediction, at a high level, and use 'attention', via 'tokens', to leverage word prediction. It is *all* based on prior knowledge, not analysis.

It will improve user interfaces. It won't solve problems.

The vid is silly, as was one where the someone pitted the chatbots against each other playing chess. Garbage in, garbage out.

Holy shit.. this is like someone making a video comparing how well different styles of hammers can screw in a screw.

Using a word predictor for a math problem is always going to be disappointing. I am looking forward to AGI where the chatbots can leverage mathematical and physics models though.
