Rifle Scopes Are the mark 4hd canted reticles a problem or few & far between?

@OP ... getting a canted reticle could happen with any scope. If you get one, Leupold will take care of it. I wouldn't let this issue stop me from getting one. The Mk4's that I've seen are very nice scopes. At one time, I had it in my head that I would upgrade to a Mk5, but the Mk4 has not left me wanting.

What would concern me more is that, in the past, the performance difference between the Mk4 and Mk5 lines was too small to justify the rather large price difference between the lines. There was talk of Leupold revamping the Mk4 line to widen the performance gap between the Mk4 and Mk5 to more justify the price difference. Whether it is true or not, or whether it happened or not, I do not know.

What I do know is that my 2.5-10 Mk4 is a heck of a scope for the price and as I mentioned, have no intention of going to anything else.

I went thru it earlier this year. New scope.
They rapidly replaced it with another new and inspected unit.

Man, I may have to pass on the mk4. I don’t want to deal with that BS.
I was looking to get a 1-4.5 and the 4.5-18 under $1800… may have to just pony up some more cash and go to another brand

Potentially that now your reticle is straight but your erector assembly isn't? No?

You can't put a level on the cap, the erector isn't perfectly aligned with the cap.

Plumb bob, snug rings, and dial all the way through the elevation travel. If it walks off either side of the string, it's canted.

They get a ton of "bad scopes" that are perfectly fine, reticle and erector track true, but people with $1 Chinese bubble levels can't understand it and get mad.
