Reminds me of grade school. Some of those 6th graders were beasts.
My elementary school always had a "Jungle Gym" (a bit smaller than the above), but added a set of "Monkey Bars" later on. Kids would train themselves to have "chicken fights" on the monkey bars. One would hang from the ladder portion of the bars and "engage" your opponents with legs, not arms. I remember getting a lecture from our 5th grade teacher re: the evils of Chicken Fights, but there was also a bit of confusion.
Apparently, the principal had lectured all the teachers and advised them to repeat the lecture to us students, but she mistook "Chicken Fights" with the old Bill Cosby game, "Buck Buck" (that same 5th grade teacher actually played that album/routine in class for us a few weeks prior) and he warned us never to play Buck Buck ("Johnny on the Pony" in NYC) on school property! I guess you could use either the jungle gym or the monkey bars as the base for the "horse" to line up. They didn't want that.
Granddaughter started kindergarten this year. They play dodgeball in PE. Talk in class, run laps at recess.

Yep. My wife gets reprimanded all the time by her AD telling her that her workouts are too hard for the high school girls sports teams. They’re basically the same thing she did for warmups as a D1 college athlete.
I sort of get both sides, if you’re going to play do it right but also 99% aren’t D1 material and nowhere near the levelYep. I remeber having a HS football coach that was God's gifts to coaching. He decided we were going to be in the best shape of any football team. We would have 3 hour practices with the first 2.5 hours or so just being conditioning. Everyone fucking hated it. Nobody was sharp on plays or playing because we didn't practice them save for 30 minutes of it while dog ass tired. The team lost every single football game that year, and the coach started coaching girls basketball instead.
As the parent of a child in club level sports I see both sides weekly. My son plays U11 soccer. Club coach (paid by parents) has a training regimen the organization makes him follow. Kids learn zero twice a week 90 minute sessions. His private coach (paid solely by me) runs his ass into the dirt for 90 minutes once a week. I’ve come to accept that club practices are for camaraderie and training is for learning and running.
