I invested $62.88 shipped. I looked at a few more options such as Ka-Bar, Becker, etc. I am interested on your thoughts, and some examples.

Ain't nothing wrong with that Cold Steel. I like AUS8 too. Enjoy it. </div></div>
Thank you sir, I am excited. I think i made the right choice as well. However I am relatively inexperienced with knives.

Re: Cold Steel SRK

You got a great knife for your money!

There are a lot of people that don't like Cold Steel Knives and a lot of people that purchase them, use them, and like them. You did well and I congratulate you on the start of your knife collection.

Re: Cold Steel SRK

It is a great knife. I had an early one and lost it in the woods. That is wasted $... ouch. thats what a bad sheath can do
I got a great deal later on the Cold Steel "military classic" with the sai mai 3 or whatever and micarta handles.
It is a cheaper copy of the Randall and is one of my favorites also

Re: Cold Steel SRK

A true work horse, holds an edge, can split wood had a gerber ax break lucky this knife kept on going, it goes with me on every camping trip period. You did good!

Re: Cold Steel SRK

Ok srk in aus8 is good sanmai is better anyone who bags out on cold steel is a half wit I collect knives and have over 150 knives in my collection and I have alot of cold steels I think their awesome there's a video on YouTube where these guys bag out cold steel by taking an srk and hitting the blade with a hatchet and taking chips out of it then shoot it with a .308 and break it and say see it's not that good. Sorry if you gotta shoot it to completely break it I'm not convinced not to buy it. So back to topic srk is an awesome multi purpose knife and will do anything you want it to my favorites are the outdoorsman and master tanto ( have a magnum but it's a bit long for the field) both in sanmai but for a starter knife srk is perfect I recommended 1 to a mate who is in the army and wanted a good field knife. Tom brown tracker is a really good allrounder too I'm also partial to my kabar I've got too many knives decisions are hard lol

Re: Cold Steel SRK

I've got an older SRK with carbon 5 steel and it is a great knife.

I've had Cold Steel knife's for years, a folder, & a master hunter, both with san mai steel and like them better than every other brand of knife I've ever had.

I've never liked the sheath's that come with their fixed blade knifes

I believe Drife's comment comes from out of date information.
Cold steel dropped their prices significantly a couple years ago...Huge actually.
At the current price point I don't think there is a better knife(and sheath). Similar maybe.

The Seals like the knife enough to supply it to trainees. I consider that a significant data point.

Cold steel gets some blades dead right and (IMHO)the SRK is near perfection for the money spent. They stand behind their product and replace it if it fails.
What else do you want for $60 bucks?
