I was at the local gun shop today to pic a picatinny rail for my B&C Tactical Medalist, two .308 shell holders and a boresnake for my .308. I realized this was my first purchase for 2012 (of anything). So, I was wondering what where the first gun related purchases that others made in 2012???

GAP built Base Custom in 308. Hopefully timed out for pick up on my return to the US.

I have a pantload of rifles I have not shot in a long time. I am buying some R15, primers and about 1000 SMKs to get started.

A couple of days ago, I took a coworker shooting. He is a non-active Marine and was an absolute pleasure. He had not shot a high-powered bolt rifle in a long time, but he fell to it like a duck to water. I did start him off on some highend medicine- a Howard Pitts .308 with an MTU contour Krieger and a GAP with a Remington varmint tube. I had both of us gasping when I put four shots of five shot group into under a quarter inch. I got the ohmigosh!!! trembles and opened the group up to about .60". That GAP is a hammer.

I think I may have that man spending some money shortly. I am pushing him toward a Remington 5R.

An AX Chasis for my Surgeon 6.5x47
Stiller Predator Action .308 bolt face
Obermeyer 6.5 barrel

Bought the action and barrel from Greg @ Southern Precision Rifles and going to have him build another 6.5x47 for my hunting setup. This one will be going in my USMC Return Smear stock. Can't wait!!

Will be picking up my 20" 6.5x47 hunting rifle next week. I still owe on it, so technically it will be a 2012 purchase. Also, going to place a order for a KRG WC3 or a AX this week for my 7WSM. I'm not a chassis fan, but these are two that I haven't got to play with, so I'm going to give one a try just to say I have.

Where can you get a 700 AAC-SD in .223? I thought they were only chambered in .308

XLR Chassis for my Rem 700. Last piece I need to go throw some lead long range. Anyone know if they're still backordered over there? I emailed and they said they were finally moving, but I didn't ask if he was still backordered.....?

Seekins base and rings followed by an optic(hoping for 4-16 from SWFA), and then decide between Manners stock or XLR chasis. Maybe CDI DBM on group buy.

New FL 280 Rem die set. I stuck a case (first time in well over 10,000 rds) and damaged the die trying to remove it so it needs replacement.

ur right they only make the aac-sd in 308. im just getting the 700 sps tactical which they make in 223, cutting it to 18" from 20" and threading it.

Just got off the phone with Greg @ Southern Precision Rifles and he's gonna build me a new hunting rig in a 6.5 Creedmore. I was going to go with the 6.5x47 but do to the availability and price of Hornadys ammuninition for the 6.5 Creedmore, I decided to go that route. Specs as follows:

6.5 Creedmore
Stiller Tac30 RH/RP .308 Bolt Face
22" Obermeyer 1 in 8.5 M24 Contour
Spiral Fluted
Timney Trigger
USMC M40A1 Smear Return Stock
USMC M40A1 Willams 2 Piece Florplate/Trigger Gaurd

Said itll be 2 months due to the spiral fluting. Gonna be a long 2 months.lol

Send that bad boy into the company. They'll fix it for free and send it back. If it's that messed up they'll replace it.

USO 3.2-17 Tpal followed by CDI bottom metal, Alpha WSM mags, 284 brass and a slew of 7mm projectiles.
The list also includes a couple new actions, ordering 2 new stocks and having Scott at specialized dynamics build me an AR. Busy year if all goes as planned!

Kimber Montana in 223, punch it out to 223AI
GAP Non-typical in 7WSM (would have to order)
S&W M&P 15-22MOE for the boys
S&B PMII 10x42 in classifieds
Winchester pre 64 model 70 in 300 H&H

Or, the Non-typical .260 currently FS in the classifieds!

Just got it! Second day into the new year!
A used Ruger Blackhawk in stainless from a member on CalGuns.
It will be on the operating table in about a month to change it from a six-shot .45 Colt to a .5-shot .500JRH.

Hopefully sometime this year I will be placing my order for a modern 1878 Sharps-Borchardt in .45-70 for long-range iron sight comp.

Maybe a new press. Mine was purchased by my dad in the 1960's. RCBS Rock Chucker. Still works, but it is the only I own that may be slower than me.

What press are most guys using now??
