So I finally put my baby together.

R700 Target Tactical .308
SWFA SS 5-20x50HD FFP
Harris BR bipod
Leupold 15MOA base
Burris Med rings

I ordered and am just waiting on my Kestrel 4000, Blackhawk Drag Bag, and 200 rounds of Federal GM .308 168gr.

Let me know what you guys think! Only thing i'm considering is swapping to low rings. I think I would have enough room still, but I really don't want to lap another set.

Below is everything ready to go. Fun fact; the Wheeler Engineering kit now includes a hard case for everything!

Rings lapped and ready for the scope install.

Now i'm making sure everything is level and ready to tighten.

X2!

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Just wondering if the rear ring doesn't need to be placed a little further.

Same here, but it looks good.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Thanks guys. I don't understand everyone's issue with the barrel

I'm sure it is going to shoot better than I am capable of.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Triangle barrel shoots fine. Shot almost the same rifle setup that you have here just fine to 1100... Good luck and Congrats.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Nice set up. Have a buddy at work looking to set up his first long range boom stick. I'll show him this thread for some ideas.

Not really. I'm sick of newbies coming here and trying to pad their post counts quickly. I've been here two years have have barely 300 posts. Read more....post less. You just make yourself look stupid if you dont know what you're talking about. Yourself included.

go dam im better that you attude. go play with your store bought gap

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Because I dont like the triangle barrel? Is everyone on their period in here today? And I seem to be the more educated if that's what your driving at. It's "you're" not "your." You're post doesn't make any sense. Punctuation is your friend.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Neat looking rifle you built there. You'll have to give us a range report when you get time.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Did AR15.com's sight go down today or something? You seem pretty froggy for someone who's been around for 5 months. But wait you have like three times as many posts as I do so you must really have something important to say.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Wow swage...everyone has an opinion sure, but please don't post anymore in my thread. I just wanted to post this to show off the new rifle. I'm new and reading plenty to learn as much as I can.

How I made myself look stupid when all I said was, "Hey, here is my first long range setup", I do not know.

Thanks to everyone else. As soon as the weather takes a turn for the better i'll get out there and test it out.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

+1 on the good photos.

I've spent the last week trying to photograph my rifles and have failed miserably, so I now truly appreciate great rifle photos.

Some of the pics look like they are out of a magazine advertisement. Nice job.

I believe you made a boo boo here? (bolded)
Also, I believe in your next post you meant site, not sight, but I'm new here, so what do I know.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Swage has a liking to dumpin on people's threads. This one ain't the first one he has left an underwear stripe in. It is gettin to be rather sickening...

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

A few here are too far into the dick measuring contest comparing what other people have.Looks like a nice rig to have regardless. we all start somewhere and you have started well. Read his profile....Wow, Captain spelling sure wasn't looking over his shoulder. This is a place to gain wisdom from people who have been doing this a while and have fun. Ignore the POS Types who are not willing to provide constructive comments.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

What does my profile have to do with anything? Look again numb nuts. It was another person leaving a message on my profile. I could care less about dick measuring. I made a comment that I didnt like the triangular barrel. Trust me I'm not in the minority on that opinion around here. It's the internet. Quit being so sensitive. It's a gun for Christ's sakes. I didnt make a comment about his wife or kids.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Wow, nice rifle and awesome job on the photos.

Can't wait for the updated thread on the "range results"!

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Rifle looks great! Congrats! What camera did you use? Your photo's are very nice. I need to learn how to take photo's like that.....

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Congrats on the setup!
I wouldn't worry about my ring height, you'll be dialing your dope anyway, and the adjustable cheekpiece will compensate for it. I would move the rear ring back at least one groove, for looks and stability.
I think you will like that stock, bipod or front rest.

I want to sell a gun, would you come over and take some pics of it for me? I could just as well be taking photos of the striped underwear.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Looks great! Brings back memories... My first semi custom project was with a Bell & Carlson tactical medalist A-5 also. Very soon after I got the itch for a McMillan A-5 and sold the B&C. Good luck with it, enjoy!

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Thanks guys. I'm in the process of getting my app together for club that has a 400 yard range. It is the longest range we have in CT. I can't wait to get this out and shoot it.

As for my camera these were taken with a Canon 1D Mark IV and 24mm f/1.4L lens with some Canon flashes. I'm a professional wedding photographer which is why I have the camera gear available to me.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Sweet looking rifle you got there.Post us some of them good looking groups that we know she'll make.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

looks great! I also like the stock. looking forward to some grouping pics!

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Looks great!

What is that level set you used for mounting the scope? Is that part of the Wheeler kit?

Yep, it is the Level, Level, Level that was included in the compelete Wheeler kit.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Looks like a nice build, I'm sure you are very proud. If someone says they don't like your triangular shaped barrel, don't sweat it. Looks don't make a nice rifle. I love how folks jump in and quick to judge someone on how their rifle looks when they have absolutely no idea how it shoots.

I showed a picture of an AR to a guy I know and he said, "Eh, I don't think I like the barrel." I thought to myself, okay, how can you not like that barrel when you have no clue how it shoots? What it boiled down to was he didn't like the free float tube because it completely covered the barrel at 15.5 inches on a 16 inch barrel. Another one of those "Tacticool" quad rail puddle jumpers that base everything off looks.

Good looking rifle. Enjoy it and let us know how it shoots! Ignore the retards.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Good looking stick man. I am having one built and will be dropping it into the exact same stock. Would love to hear how you are liking it.

Using your rational, I must be one smart dude.

Nice looking rifle OP. Let us know how it shoots. If I could add one bit of advice though, you really should have used a day glow orange stock. The reason being, I am really sick of seeing all of these earth tone colors around here and due to the fact that I have such a low post count, my opinion matters.

Re: My first setup! Pic intense!

Now guys....... lets be nice!

I for one, am happy to see a new guy actually being proactive and taking the time to setup his own gear. He didn't have Billy Bob down at Gander Mountain throw his shit together just to do it over again an hour later at home.

Now, stop your posting and picture taking and get out there and give that barrel some hell. Good Luck.
