Just wondering if someone could give me a good starting point and what powder choices I have for 115 dtac bullets. Gun is a Stiller Tac 30 action with Kreiger 7.5 twist barrel @ 24". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just started working up that combination. I'm loading H4350, 41.2 and getting 2960 fps, easy load, no pressure sub 1/2 moa. Barrel is a krieger 25". Lots of people shoot that bullet upwards of 3000 to 3100. I just wanted to lenghten the barrel life a little longer than they do!
Figured H4350 would be a good powder to try as well as H1000. Just trying to get some other peoples first hand experience. Want to load the best I can for my beanland built rifle so it can be all that she can be. LOL. Thanks for your input and I sure will try that combo.
I have had great luck with H1000. 47 gr does the trick for me, good velocity, good brass life, good temperature sensitivity, and hopefully slightly better barrel life.
Yeah I got that barreled action on here a few weeks ago from sendero man. Have been chomping at the bit the shoot and my manners just showed as well as a new 8.5-25x50 mark 4. I have lapua brass and I have 50 115 dtac bullets for testing. Was going to try the dtacs and some 105 amax bullets. I guess I am going to try some H1000 as I shoot it in a few other calibers as well so thats always a plus. If I dont get any luck from it will try H4350. Thanks for all you guys help. This is out of my leauge I dont mess with small calibers but going to give it a whirl.
The only way to know for sure is to play with the seating depth. The DTACs are fairly tolerant to jump and don't always need to be into the lands to perform. I am running with H4350 around 3070 fps and RL25 around 3120 fps out of a 26" 1/7.5 Broughton 5C barrel. In my setup the 4350 seems to be a little more consistant, but both loads are scary accurate.
Thanks to all for the replys. Love this site just for the first hand knowledge. As stated before I dont really do small calibers such as this so I am going to give it a whirl. If it dont work out you will be seeing it soon on the for sale section. LOL. Thanks again to all.
47 grains H-1000 when mine was a 243, now that it is a 6CM I run 49 grains and the barrel life seems great so far. Over 2000 rounds and still holding well below moa. Great velocity as well. The D-tacs are great bullets to shoot in fast twist 6s
Found plenty of load data for H4350. I have a good bit of H1000 on hand as I use it for a couple of rifles so going to try that first. What would be a good start as far as working up loads as well as where people start seeing pressure signs on the high end?

I successfully used coated 115gr DTAC's over 47.5gr of H1000 through a 1/8 Krieger finished at 27" for 2970fps.
H1000.....even with 100gr Sierra Pro Hunters I use H4831 and sometimes H1000. Better accuracy and better load density. 243 Win is an overbore so slower powder is better!
