Tikka T3 build...

Just wanted to check out everyone's opinions on my Tikka build before I order in the rest of the parts.

Starting off with a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless Steel .308 (should be here on Monday)
Straight Shot Gunsmithing "V" Port Vaporizer compensator (already here)
XLR Evolution Chassis (ordered...should show up around April)
Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm LR/T M3 illum reticle - mildot (not ordered yet)
Seekins rings (not ordered yet)
SXT bolt shroud and bolt handle (not ordered yet)
Jard 28oz trigger assembly (not ordered yet)

So just figured I'd ask the experts what they think of the layout and whether they'd change anything on the components that haven't already been ordered

. Please don't just recommend an M24...already have one of those coming in

Re: Tikka T3 build...

What barrel/chambering or are you going to keep the "Lite" factory barrel?

IMO stay away from Jard. Haven't had good experiences with them in other triggers.

I agree with the above comments. The factory trigger is crisp, and can be adjusted down to ~2.5 lbs. It is a very good trigger. You will need to send in whatever scope base you are using to Kyle so he can shorten it to work with the XLR stock. I'm putting a Tikka in an XLR also. All I'm waiting for is the barreled action to come back from the smith. You will be very pleased with the XLR.

Re: Tikka T3 build...

Are you keeping it .308? I just had T-3 .308 re-barreled to the 6.5 creedmoor, what an awesome shooter it is now.

every thing on your list looks good, just keep the trigger like others have suggested.

Re: Tikka T3 build...

FWIW-I bought the Jard from Brownells, the pull weight adjust down just fine but the safety wouldn't engage fully, if would still go off if you pulled the trigger hard enough, so I returned it.

Re: Tikka T3 build...

Thanks for the info on the Jard. I'll drop that off the list and just adjust the factory trigger. I am planning on keeping the factory lite barrel on this rifle and 308 as the caliber. I want to keep the rifle light weight overall. It's intended use is for out to about 500-600m shooting Federal GM308M 168gr. I'll also be having Nathan at Straight Shot Gunsmithing spiral fluting the bolt.

Not sure as to what scope base to get. Whatever I do get I should be able to shorten here on my milling machine.

Any suggestions on the scope base? Also, anything I'm missing there that anyone would recommend?

Thanks again.

Re: Tikka T3 build...

I just run an EGW 20 MOA base on mine. Works fine and relatively cheap.

thanks for the pointer on the trigger. I was hoping I could find a two stage for this rifle
