I am doing some research for what type of stock to get for a new build and I was wandering if anyone has had any personal experience with the Manners f class competition stock or Ray Bowmens f class stock from precision rifle and tool. The Manners website says their stock forarm is 7 1/2" longer than their mt4 stocks to help ballance rifles with longer barrels. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: f open stock

Ray is my smith and I have held several of his f class open stocks and they are as nice as it gets. He will make them out of any wood you choose, even with your own modifications to existing patterns. The forearms are ultra long to offset the weight of 30"-34" barrels, and each one Is a work of art. I would look no further than Precision Rifle and Tool.

Re: f open stock

I called Manners in the begining of January, and asked about their F-class stock. He said they are not taking any orders for their F-class stocks this year. I said you know it's the begining of the year right. He said YES.

So I would go a different route than Manners.

I don't think you can go wrong with one of Ray's stocks. I shoot at Camp Butner and there are a bunch of guys there with his stocks.

Re: f open stock

I agree give Ray Bowman a call. Precision Rifle and Tool can make you a nice F-Open or FTR stock. Just give him a call.

Re: f open stock

I'd give Joel Russo a call and tell him what you want and see what he can do , Ive used several of his tocks in the past with great success.

An A5L minus the buthook would work well , ride the bags well and im sure he could make one longer like the Manners stocks.

I actualy like the laminated stock better than composit because i can file and sand the grip to fit my hand well , notice that the top of the grip on these has a differant shape and deeper palm swell

Here is a model 7 i nuild , had the buthook moved a bit forward

+1 for PR&T

+1 for Precision Rifle and Tool. Rays stocks are great and he is usally not that far behind.

I got a MBR patterned stock from Carl Bernosky a couple of years ago. Carl was great to deal with and the stock was very nice and he got it to me quickly. I would not hesitate to order one again.

However I think the PR&T Lowboy F-Open stock is a better design
