Want to say a big "thank you" to Jim and Charles, Jim for putting on a big match and herding us cats around safely - and Charles for flying us around in circles all day in a small noisy bubble.

Wow, great pics, thanks for doing all those. I know that big camera didn't make your pack any lighter!!

Re: SHWW Group

First time in several years I've worked instead of shot at the Cup. It was a blast, and I enjoyed meeting all of the shooters and watching them perform. Or not, depending....
Agree that it was a very challenging match, and thanks again to Jim for the hundreds of hours and all of our sponsors for the donations and support.

Re: SHWW Group

Cool vid Tim. I have to have a camera next time.

I'd like to see a run all the way through to see if the other 2 targets go by as fast as I remember.

Great video, and good shooting at Findlay. Too bad we couldn't squad together. Maybe in April. You're now a YouTube aerial platform badass...

How many hits did you get on the helo stage? I think I managed two (maybe it was only one). At any rate, I'd love to do that again and again...

Re: SHWW Group

Hey, Steve from Tacoma here. My birthday is coming up and my wife wants me to buy a tactical rifle as my gift to hopefully eventually shoot in some matches.
I was just wondering if you knew of any rifles for sale, preferrably local, but I'd take shipped too - I'm looking for a nice custom action repeater, detach mag, in a non-magnum cartdridge. 260/6.5CM/6.5x47L/243 ideally, but let me know if you have anything close.

Thanks,
Steve in Tacoma

Re: SHWW Group

Ranger, sorry for the late reply. The load that my KRG likes is Hornandy 140gr BTHP over 43.5gr H4350 lit up with a Fed 215M.

Tim,
That is a sweet video!

Re: SHWW Group

Got my first one out of the way today with my AR we used in the helicopter stage at the match.
Parts gun from hell, 7 twist 20" Mil bbl, Vortex Sparc optics. 55 sp 5.56, Gemtec can.
40 yard head shot:

Re: SHWW Group

Alan i maybe up there sooner than May if Jim keeps posting teasers.

Re: SHWW Group

By the way, Jake, that was some damn fine shooting this weekend.
Also thank you for stepping up and helping out every chance you could.
There were several others that did the same and that took a huge load off of me.
Thank you one and all.

Re: SHWW Group

Thanks for the nice comments on the video! I will try to get a uncut raw video up soon and I'll PM you so you can check it out. Agreed Matt, had tons of fun and look forward to shooting with you at the next Wenatchee match! Amazing job to Jake, Matt and Alan for representing us well! Great to see good people kicking ass!

Yes, great video. While I did set up the helicopter course and flew several dry runs, I didn't get a chance to shoot it.
Looks like it was a total blast to shoot!

I wouldn't go so far as to include Alan in the above statement though......

Re: SHWW Group

Yup, cool video and good choce of music. Watching the brass-not-catcher in action, I'm tempted to hike up the draw and scavenge brass. There's what, 60 shooters, 20 rounds each..... hmmmm.

For those of you who hadn't met Shayla before, she's great people and a damn good shot, too. So's her dad.

Hey Steve,
What's your budget?

Re: SHWW Group

The video of the helicopter stage just makes me jealous. That must have been awesome!

How were the hits on this stage? I watched the sniper competition a few years ago on Discovery and many of them had a hard time landing hits while in the helicopter.

Re: SHWW Group

8 or 9 of us got 5 hits out of 20 - 25% hit

(happy to say i got 5
smile.gif
& a lot easier than an AK out of back of a moving HV - which is stupid hard)

Re: SHWW Group

Thanks again for an awesome match Jim and Jesse, I know it is really hectic and you guys did a great job.

Thanks again for all the sponsors that make this event possible. I was really excited to get the item off the prize table I did. I will be sending it to Rbos to build me a tack driver 6.5x47 Lapua!!!

Hey Guys,

Since it has been Raining All Friggin day. I decided that I would post a few Photos of Jake's brackets that I was able to pick up at the Cup. The brackets are extremely well made and fit my plates perfectly. Jake supplied Grade 8 hardware with my brackets that included 1/2" bolts and the appropriate nuts. As it turned out, the bolts were a tad too big. My steel was purchased from Jake way back in the beginning and my holes came in at 7/16". Not an issue as Ace is less then 3 miles from my front door. I just thought that you might be able to save Jake, and yourself, a hassle if you check the holes in your steel before you order.
Here are a few photos,

Jake and his boys have done a great job on these brackets and they are perfect for hanging their steel. Now, if the passes will dry out, I'll get over to the east side and start knocking the paint off.

I managed to get a carbine quad rail from seekins from the sponsor table and I'd like to say that after installing and shooting it... this is what a quad rail should be. Perfect fit and finish, perfect design. I'm not blowing smoke when I say the best I've seen. If you're out there looking for an AR forend... look no further. Thanks again for the sponsorship.

Re: SHWW Group

Thanks for the info STS. Thats awesome!!

Yeah, all of our plates from about 1 year ago moving forward will have true 1/2 inch holes. Before that they were a 7/16 holes. Sorry about that!!!

I am also going to be making a 7.5 inch bracket to cover the one missing inch gap on the T POST. Those should be done next week or something there abouts.

Re: SHWW Group

Jake,
Those are great looking brackets. How much do they cost for the various sizes? I checked your web site, and couldn't find any of the brackets there.

Re: SHWW Group

Not up on the website yet. Wont be until after I get the rest of these group buy orders out the door.

Re: SHWW Group

I have a brand new unopened 5lb jug of Re10x.
Local guys give me a call or pm.
or I am going to the west side next week (ugh!) can deliver.

Thanks

Re: SHWW Group

So far i have the intial reports on cof are all great so i will be posting ful cof report both here and tac comps thread.

I will give you some clues have good dope out to 1300yds, really good zero @100yds, boots your comfortable running in. practice with your full kit and get used to shooting positions other than prone, oh and don't forget to practice a few shots weakside just in case!! Targets will be reasonable size but times will be fairly tight so fast follow ups and accurately spotting your own shots will be key.

round count 132 total
6rds on paper @100 to start
126yd on steel from 300-1300
minimum 60rds over 600yds

2 rangers patrol that area and will check for your permits! They also will check to make sure your rifles are unloaded while transporting them in your vehicle. I guess to make sure you are a sniper not a poacher.

It's not illegal to have a loaded rifle last time I checked...

guys don't worry about the loaded rifle at the match deal just don't keep it loaded in your vehicle for transport plus you won't shoot out of the cab at all this time so no worries.

Re: SHWW Group

Is the statute about loaded rifles in vehicles hard to find? I know how to find stuff in the Oregon revised statutes, but Washington has a different system.

Many places say that even if the chamber is empty, but there are rounds in the magazine, the rifle is loaded. I had heard that one jurisdiction even went so far as to say that simply having a magazine in the rifle (loaded or not) was interpreted as a loaded firearm.

I would like to look at the relevant statute to figure out how Washington state has it worded.

Edited to add: Refer to RCW 77.15.460. It prohibits having a loaded rifle or shotgun in a vehicle regardless of CPL status. The only exemption to this is if the person has a valid disabled hunters license/permit. Even if the chamber is empty, having a round in the magazine makes the firearm loaded if the magazine is attached to the firearm.

Re: SHWW Group

Pretty easy to find:

(1) A person is guilty of unlawful possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle if:

(a) The person carries, transports, conveys, possesses, or controls a rifle or shotgun in or on a motor vehicle; and

(b) The rifle or shotgun contains shells or cartridges in the magazine or chamber, or is a muzzle-loading firearm that is loaded and capped or primed.

from

http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=77.15.460

in or 'on'. I have been checked in lewis county to make sure rifles sitting on the hood were not loaded.
