Re: The Bystander Effect

Humans are pathetic.

I think this video enrages me because I see this all the time and its my nature is to intervene/help. I stop when I witness a car accident and have stepped up when a guy was making a odd scene at a restaurant. I pity the guy grabbing a kid (like in the video) around me. However, I know I've also walked past people that were passed out on the sidewalk and I guess I did so because I stereotyped them based on what they looked like (drunk bums) but for all I know I may have failed to render aide to a normal dude who just got his ass beat.

This part geeked me out a bit. I live in a semi rural small town. You just dont see druggies, or homeless people. Even in the larger cities around me, ive never seen someone incapacitated on the sidewalk. If I was in a city like Charlotte and I saw a sketchy looking person passed out on the sidewalk I would probably ignore them, its just the stereotype of drunk/druggie.

I cant believe the video of that guy (cop?) being ran over and no one helping, or the video of that guy bleeding to death for an hour. Absolutely ridiculous. I dont want to make it a cultural thing but I cant see this happening in a city in the south, those videos make me think thats up north. Maybe Im wrong.

Why don't you elaborate on that a little?

I see so much on here about the black people (especially the younger ones)being a worthless bunch of scum sucking welfare parasites. Just happened that a couple of brothers stepped up when all the rest walked on bye. Kinda unravels the stereotype.

Or did yu want me to comment on my being a sheeple (sp?)

I see what you did there. Quasi clever.

I've never really seen that type of racism on here (the Hide) but then again, you've been around a lot longer than I have.

I guess the fact that you fell for those stereotypes without making an informed decision based on your own personal first hand knowledge lends creedence to your claim of being a sheeple. Very appropos for the subject at hand.

Your so funny.

Re: The Bystander Effect

I do not understand people. How you can walk passed someone in need is... I actually do not have words to express myself.

Re: The Bystander Effect

Don't let the secret out. When the aliens come their diet will consist of sheeple. Their spacecraft will be shaped like a big starbucks and will suck them up as they enter.

It's an everyday thing in Albuquerque no matter what part of town you're in you'll see drugs/gangs/etc. it's just a fact of life in towns like Abq. Sad though and seeing it everyday would have the effect of dehumanizing you, I know it did to me.
