Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

Two years seems to be the growing trend ... The KSG rings a bell, released at shot ... and over 2 years later only what ... 800? have been made ... The above mentioned S&B ...

Like a previous discussion on waiting 8 months or more for a scope. Want a true custom built to your specs? Then you wait for it. Want an off the shelf model in under a week ... don't wait. I would rather wait for the design and production to be done right that be a beta tester and pay to help R&D a product.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

Mike: I'm willing sacrafice for the group and loan you my 40x for a little R&D work and prototype conversion.

Grand,
All of the R&D/Proto work has been completed. The latest rev molds are being made for the magazines and I'll be accepting complete 40X(B) actions/rifles for the repeater conversion once the injection molding process for the magazines is complete.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

We've done a few Repeater Conversions on the Rem 40X and have calculated pricing on complete actions. The conversion will run $475 for the machining and converting the action to Controlled Round Feed.

Barreled receivers will have an additional cost for the bolt assembly and all required
small parts. I'm calculating magazine cost and will have pricing available within the next few weeks.

The conversion info is proprietary, so please don't ask me to share the development with other gunsmiths.

Is this for the sporter conversion? Or the tactical conversion?

I've got a sporter that's just ready to go as soon as you say your accepting orders.

It's for the Tactical Conversion. I'll complete the development of the floor plate for the Sporter Conversion later this year.

So a proprietary mag design? 5 and 10 round magazines?

Yes, the mag is proprietary and it's 10 rounds. Not sure if I'll do a five round mag.

Thanks Guys. I have stock finish and Cerakote left to do and will be posting pics of one of the first BlackOps Remington 40X Tactical Repeaters. Based on my sked, I'd say roughly two weeks and pics will be posted.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

Mike

How'd the tac come out? Like to see what youz fellers came up with.

On the sporter version; think the ten round mag would be to long for a squirrel rifle. You would have lots of mag hanging out like the 5-teen remingtons with a ten rounder in it. Thinking the flush mount 5 rd with guide plate is the way to go for a sporter. Similar to the a factory 40 sporter. It would take a ten just as easy as a five, right? The other reason would be that guys wanting to shoot CMP sporter rimfire with the 40X would be in the 5 rd camp.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

I thought I saw an estimate of the price of the new repeater action at about $650? I didn't see that listed anywhere- did I dream it?

Anythoughts on offering a truing/blue-printing of the 40X action while you are doing the conversion?

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

That is awesome.....excited for the conversions to be ready!

Smag,
The Tactical Conversion turned out great...just a few small details and haven't been back on it for a couple of weeks.

I agree on the Sporter and the magazine arrangement is totally different.

Actually, the Repeater Conversion is $650 and the critical features (face, threads, abutments) are addressed as part of the conversion.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

Well, that's great Mike.

Have had to cull the herd a bit but have saved several for the sporter repeater where I can get one down to 7.5lbs with scope. Just a matter of barrel taper and length.
Think the idea of putting it in a solid bottom ADL walnut stock, with yer bottom metal and Mag would be sharp. Give it the stock 40 repeater look with improved feeding capabilities.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

just sent you a pm mike on a conversion project. Let me know when you're taking orders!

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

Anyone out there have a conversion in their hot little hands? if so, how do you like it? Is it still accurate? How do the mags run? ect...

I would like to send mine out for the conversion, but am hesitant without anyones feedback.

Hoser,
We've done a couple as in-house test mules and they're working beautifully. I'll be posting pics very soon of the first completed rifle with test targets and will shoot a video of it feeding.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

Great news. We're all are waiting yer pic's of the 40x. They will be worth the wait. Still staring at this 40x action and bolt sitting on my reload bench for over a year. Think it is kinda the lone bishop next to my priming tool.

Mike yer on it dog-gone-it.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

So am I reading it right that it's $650 to convert an existing single shot 40XB to a repeater?

Yes, for the full machining package as part of a re-barrel prep. If the factory barrel is going back on, it's less.

Thanks Smag. As a matter of note, the Multi-cavity molds for the magazine components are in the works. Magazine availability has been my only hold up to accepting orders for conversions and the molds will be in the presses and making parts in about nine weeks. Once we're three weeks out on the magazines, I'll flip the switch on the conversions.

I already have two rifles in the shop waiting for the conversions to begin and I'll send out a PM blast when we're ready to go.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

Mike
Sounds like things are falling in place.

Had question on a stock. Now on the sporter version, will the mag have a metal magazine retaining plate around it for use with the ADL trigger guard? I ask this because it will matter which kind of stock inlet will be needed; 40x single shot (with no wood removed) do that yerself, SA 700 ADL or BDL. Now I know yer tactical will AICS bottom metal adapter or there abouts. To get bit ahead here one would need to order a sporter stock now. Which 40x or 700 inlet will be needed?

What would be the price without a barrel change?

Smag,
The Sporter version will use a standard Remington BDL floor metal inlet for the magazine system.

The machining for a straight-forward repeater conversion without re-barrel is $450.

That sounds good. I just checked your site and didnt see anything about it so I thought I would ask. Does inproduction mean ready to sell as soon as they roll off the line? Do you have any pictures, specs, or pricing for it yet that you are willing to divulge or do you want to see how the production goes?

M. Gordon, your's is the next one in the mill....

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate

That looks amazing. That is the finest Tactical .22 I've ever seen.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate

Now that is sexy!!

So the larger mag is just a "holder" for the actual .22lr mag?

May I ask how you would get the .22lr mag out of the holder?

I may have to start sweet talking my wife for one

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate

.

Very, very nice!!!

Is there any chance to offer one on an AICS stock?

It would be a really good pair for my centerfire...

Thanks Guys.

The magazine shown here is the magazine. It holds 10 rounds as you see it and it's removed from the DBM just like an AICS mag.

The barreled action will work in an AICS chassis and the BlackOps magazine will plug right in.

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate

unfortunately i blew my wad on somthing else in the meantime but will be starting a new thing to save for.

Thanks TP and we'll be here when you're ready.

We put a lot into our fit and finish right down to the slightest of details...I should've done a better job removing the lint before I took the pics.
