Some Tango-51 pics

Re: Some Tango-51 pics

Very nice. I would like to know what the objective size is and the height of the rings. Trying to prepare for the arrival of mine in a few months.
I like the look of those rings and will check them out as I need a set of 34mm.

The objective is 56mm but if you want, I'll measure the outside diameter as well when I get a chance.

The rings are the lows. I've been a fan of ARC from the 2ndGen onwards. I think the new M10s are as perfect a set of rings as you could want.

That would be great. I have a S&B 56mm and if they are close I can go ahead and order a set. I have the Tango contour on my Delta so they should sit the same height wise.

They are a little pricey, but I like shit that works the first time, and everytime.

If you have time maybe we can go to to ASR (<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Angeles Shooting Range</span></span>) and you can shoot my X-Ray 51.

Re: Some Tango-51 pics

EH,

Congrats, I hope to have my Tac Ops Tango 51 (.260) some time this week or early next week. That's an awesome looking rifle. I will have to be honest I could never use mine for a comp rifle. You should see my TRG it's pretty messed up. Oh yeah and your scope is to nice to get scratched. My S&B on my TRG is scratched to hell. Just some thing to think about for tactical comps.

Also, now that you live in a suppressor friendly state, time to call Mike R. and get you a ti-can for that rifle;)

Re: Some Tango-51 pics

Cans... hmmm... Indeed. I just bought a house and all the 'stuff' that goes with it so I'm going to 'settle' for the can that Mike's made me for my other rig. Once the house stuff is behind me then I'll be calling Mike for a can on the Tango.

I know it's going to get messed up but I promised myself that this will be a rifle I'll use - a lot. It'll be what I go hunting with as well. We'll see though, once I get the creedmoor back, I'll be able to judge and maybe the Tango will be my F/TR rig.

Regarding scope... there are plenty who'd say a S&B is too nice to get busted up as well! I dunno, my buddy has a Vortex Razor HD and I have to say, I like that scope a lot as well so maybe I'll trade something and get that as my heavy use optic...?

You ever get up to PA let me know.

Re: Some Tango-51 pics

fuck that, if you have a gun and shoot it, might as well beat on the damn thing. mike builds tools they are made to be used, you can always have it refinished. 1000, 4000 doesn't matter. use it, if you worried about resale value you need to get out of this game cuz your a wuss, lol.

BigJoe

I'll be a wuss, lol. I pay for my stuff now not Big Green, so I'll treat my stuff a little nicer

Besides that's why have have TRGs

EH,

So I guess you're getting a Tac - 30 from Mike R.

Re: Some Tango-51 pics

lol, i really like the Xray. honestly i have expensive stuff, i have no quams with using any of it, i'm not saying i run my stuff over with cars or anything but i will happily use them in comps, carry them in a backpack, hunt, use in shitty weather, etc. kinda like my expensive 1911's, i have a 1911 that cost as much as your tacops, and i holster it in kydex and treat it like a work pistol and i wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: Some Tango-51 pics

Well, I'll post pics of the Tango one year from now and we'll see if I wuss'd out or manned up...
smile.gif

I'm due for a comp in June and that'll be the Tango for sure. Now I just have to learn how to use it properly rather than just plinking on a nice range...

Hello mate, I wanted to give you a heads up but just got caught up with things...

Yes, enjoying it is an understatement but not enjoying it often enough!

It's a wonderful rifle, it really is and whatever the wait etc, it's worth it and I'm glad I stuck it through. The simple fact is, MikeR is just all about producing the very best of what he makes with no exceptions regardless if the buyer is a noob or a pro, their rifles get the same level of attention, expertise and quality output.

Good to hear! Glad you talked me into a Tac-Ops, can't wait for my X-Ray 51 to arrive! I know that's going to be a while, so in the mean time I'll have to live vicariously through you and your Tango...

Re: Some Tango-51 pics

How flexible is Mike in building his rifles in different calibers? Say maybe a .260 Rem or 6.5 Creed. Do they still carry the same accuracy guarantee? I'm generally curious because I dont want/need another .308 but would love to own one of his rifles.

He's done, 6.5X55, .260,.30-06, .338LM etc and yes, all come with his crazy guarantee.

That offer is extended your way as well! I actually think I might be in your neck of the woods right now, do you live in PA? I'm headed back to Texas tomorrow morning though.

Mike and the team at Tac Ops have built me 4 rifles. They are: Echo 51 (308), Delta 55 (6.5x55), Tango 51 (.260), and a Green Hornet (suppressed 22LR). So, I think it is safe to say he can build you what you want.

I have finger-banged a Green Hornet. Seriously, it's all business. I bunked off work today for a couple of hours to sneak to the range with Bohem who has a suppressed .22LR and I couldn't help thinging, "this must be what it's like with a Green Hornet".

Shooter, I hate you, in the nicest possible way!

I been holding out for my form 4s to clear, so I can dress them up with some Tac 30s before taking pics. The Tango .260 is having the stock repaired and if all goes well should have it by next week. The Green Hornet will be at the my Class 3 dealer, hopefully tomorrow. Also, he's holding onto my cans right now. Cans shouldn't be that much longer ATF cashed the checks on 2 December 2011.

<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">EventHorizon</span></span>'s <span style="font-style: italic">"the Hensoldt reticle is not good for groups shooting!"</span> statement is due to the main lines of the Mildot reticle in <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">EventHorizon</span></span>'s Hensoldt scope being too coarse (thick) for precision aiming. True <span style="font-style: italic">precision</span> aiming requires a reticle with very fine main lines that don't obscure the target. The finer the reticle the more precise the POA (Point of Aim) can be, and the more precise the POA is the more precise the POI can be (obviously, it takes a lot more than a fine reticle to shoot tiny groups - the shooter and ammo must be up to the task, and calm wind - or at least <span style="font-style: italic">consistent</span> wind helps a lot).

There are very few FFP scopes that have reticles fine enough for very precise aiming and shooting tiny groups - especially the kind of groups that Tac Ops rifles are capable of. That said, the PMII 5-25X[56mm] with the Premier Reticles Gen 2 XR is my personal favorite and has worked quite well for me for shooting small (1/2 MOA and smaller) targets at distance and for casual F-T/R matches.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Johny B</div><div class="ubbcode-body">what are they using for the texture on that stock? </div></div>
Multiple layers of Marinetex. Each layer is fully cured, then slightly "knocked-down" prior to application of the next layer. The number of layers and the amount of sanding between each layer is dependent upon how heavy the client wants the texturing. After the stock has been bedded and textured the entire stock including the textured areas (but less the bedding) is painted with super-durable epoxy paint (Tac Ops OD and Black).

Hey Mike, the rifle gets more enjoyable each time I use it. The cycling of the action is butter smooth and I don't think I'll ever get tired of that trigger. That alone is the work of an evil genius!

The good news on the Ti can is that the first time the wife shot a Tango was with it suppressed so she's on board with a can... just after the house is built, furnished blah blah.. It took some 'splaining to do about the M4 can....(the johnson is safe!).

Once the house is built and ready then you and the wife are expected for a visit next time you're on the East Coast.

As usual Keith is spot on. Bohem showed me a work-around with the reticle to use the windage to make the POI just shy and high of the crosshair so the bottom and side of a 1" diameter target are touching the horizontal and vertical. This gives you a repeatable and precise aiming point. I'll try it once I'm fully proficient with recoil management on a bipod. I only want to shoot the rifle either slung or on a bipod.

I have a Premier 3-15 with the Gen2XR that's much more amenable to precision shooting but so far, I'm all about the Hensoldt on the Tango.

I'm going to have to try this! I love my Hensoldt for "hitting" targets, no matter where they are, I can see the reticle and it's great for making hits. Group shooting though gets tough, this is a good tip that I haven't tried-thanks!

Hey Juniors - yeah, it's a nifty tip and one I'll be trying at longer range just to see if I can 'do' F/TR with the Hensoldt :0

I'll get those leg extensions out to you tomorrow.
