Re: So...what's ur occupation?

I'm a systems engineer. The main goal is to identify customer and regulatory requirements, create an architecture that meets those requirements, and then work with different engineering disciplines (electronics hardware, software, mechanical engineering, design, etc.) to define specific project technical objectives and ensure those objectives are met within budget and timing constraints. It can be a lot of fun.

Re: So...what's ur occupation?

QA welding engineer for a nuclear utility. Basically audit programs against NQA-1, 10 CFR App. B, AWS, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, SNT-TC-1A, and other applicable codes and standards. Lots of paperwork but also in-depth analysis of materials, processes, and metallurgy. Grain types, sizes, boundaries, and their formations blow my mind.
I'm relatively new to the job, but ultimately I want to sit on ASME and AWS welding code committees.
