Saw this last night- great movie- it was long, but it didn't feel that way thanks to the flow and how the movie drew you in. Three or four sex scenes- most of which were as good as soft-core porn. Star Rooney Mara pretty much shows it all except the sweet spot- and she looks incredible doing it! This movie will have you guessing and the ending certainly leaves it open for sequels. Highly advise it be on the list to see.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I agree, it's gonna be one of my favorite movies for a long time. I enjoyed the photography of Sweden in the winter (presumably not filmed at Universal Studios), and the Girl is a fantastic character.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Yeah, it leaves it open for sequels because there are 3 books in the trilogy

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Yeah I knew there were three books, but we all know how movies made from books go- generally very little related to the books. I've never read the books, but I really do believe this was such a good movie, there is no way the books are better. As O-E Jack said, the photography and filmography of the are they call sweden is just absolutely incredible. It has very good acting and a hell of a good story line that just totally sucks you in. It was one of those movies where you leave feeling like you were almost a part of it.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Suprisingly enough, I felt the movie was nearly as good as the book
Very much a must see---NY Times #1 bestseller----u can have my copy
for $10 shipped---looking forward to the sequels---lots of the author's
life is incorporated into work---he died and his family denounced his
long-term girlfriend---she has the computer with the last book on it so
she will get the last laugh (and millions!)

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Have you seen the Swedish movie trilogy that covers off the three books? They're very good films, if you can deal with something non-Hollywood and subtitles.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

A wonderfully done movie... intense riveting .. somewhat long but didn't realize it until the movie was over.. recommend it highly

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I watched the Swede version a year or so ago on Netflix. Very good. I haven't seen the American version yet but I probably will. Books are a good read also.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The original was better if you like foreign films and reading subtitles.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

+1 for the original version.

Once you get used to the subtitles the trilogy is really captivating.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Watched it last night. I think Mara Rooney did a good job as Lisbeth and Daniel Craig wasn't too bad.

However, I do not understand why they revealed some of the things they did from book 2. It kind of ruins some of the mystery in the next movie, which I'm assuming they are making.

Overall it was good but, the Swedish Version was a bit better with all three plots intertwined a bit.

Looks like I have to get the entire trilogy.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I thought they did a good job with the film considering the detail in book one

My thoughts exactly. I've read all three. They did a great job getting all the big scenes in. I think it's an above average adaptation.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I've read all 3 books. Some real "Ultra-Violence" in them. That girl is a take-no-prisoners fighter. Plus she likes sex, no, craves it.

I've also read all the "Fifty Shades..." trilogy. A kinky love story.
(No, I do not like Broadway musicals!) Jus' sayin'.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I've read all three books. I couldn't put them down once I got into the characters.

I've watched the first of the Swedish TV mini-series with subtitles on Amazon streaming (thanks PRIME!). Be sure to watch the extended version - it's very true to the book. Avoid the Swedish movie which is an edited down version of the mini-series.

Next for me are the final two extended Swedish mini-series. Then I'll watch the Craig/Rooney version since it's the last to have been made.

Yeah I feel like the American version had a neutered version of Lisbeth.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Killer trilogy. Definitely preferred the original Swedish version.

Re: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Also saw the swedish version and thought it was well done.
