Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

I would believe 160 meters, I highly doubt anyone is stupid enough to say that an AR is that accurate at 1600 meters, or any gun for that matter.

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

I would still be skeptical if it said 160 meters.

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

one shot groups maybe...can that "camera" on top of that rifle even see that far?? haha...

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

it could with a counter sniper scope

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

Call him. Tell him you're considering it and would like to meet him at the range to test it out.

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

damm metric system!! probably meant inches or centimeters or milimeters or something...

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

Almost a good rifle. I demand 1" groups at 1 mile, and this rifle comes up ~10 meters short.

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

wow, getting all worked up over a typo, nobody is perfect.

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

Imagine if through some bizarre fate of the universe you ended up with an AR that actually could shoot 1" groups at 1600 meters.

You'd never be able to tell anyone!

Doesn't everyone have one of these? Shoot, I am packing mine whenever I saddle up my unicorn for a trail ride...

I can't tell you the number of those pesky Smurfs I've knocked off with it.

No, but I need one. That thing must be sub MO-Smurf out to a couple of miles!

You're all just jealous because it was built, and tuned, by real Army marksmanship armorers.

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

that darn metric system is just too simple.
1 meter is
1000 milimeters
100 centimeters
10 decimeters

1 kilometer is just a 1000 meters

1 liter = 1 kilo

too damn simple.

I'd say there are guns that one might call accurate at 1600m...not AR's but there are guns that do it. And do it well.

From the article, regarding a person-sized target, "Tom Irwin, a director of Accuracy International, the British manufacturer of the L115A3 rifle, said: "It is still fairly accurate beyond 1,500 m (1,640 yd), but at that distance luck plays as much of a part as anything."

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

I believe it... You just have to do your part...

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

Honestly! I am going to call this guy to see if he will give me a copy of his dope card.(not talking about his medical marijuanna card).Thats alot of hold over in his Nikon.

I couldnt agree more, there is an element of luck to everything. especially that kind of shot (or three) but it is in fact accurate.

I didn't mean to get off topic. My apologies.

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

I shot a 1 inch group at 2000 meters with a 22lr, twice, in the standing position, with a 20 mph wind.

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

Anyone that thinks a .223 can shoot out to 1600 yards needs to rethink. I did .223 testing for the DoD years ago and a dear friend of mine is the only person I know that got an AR to shoot accurately to 600 yards with a special barrel and custom bullets. .223 is basically a 300 yard round. 7.62 can and does shoot out to 1000 yards all the time, I AM a Palma shooter and I have been using 14 types since 76. 1" MAO? on a good day close, but weather has to be perfect. I have used the Barrett and McMillan .50's... this is different. For .50, I still prefer to handload.

You're absolutely right. Carlos Hathcock registered a kill at 2500 yards with an M2 with a Unertal mounted on it. With the advent of newer .50's, the .416 Barrett (more accurate then the .50) and the new Lapua to name a few. Shooting out past 1000 yards is a reality. But, always need the skill set to do so. I was taught by an Vietnam era USMC sniper. They do have a 2600 yard kill made by a Brit sniper in Iraq.

Hell, I've shot better groups out past that with a 106 reckless.

Funniest one I ever was present for along those lines was standing in a gun store where a friend of mine was manager. We were talking about shooting .30. A guy walks in and starts jumping in on how he also shot 600 yards. Jim asked the guy how far away the car was across the street (parked). The guy said 600 yards. Ya... more like 75 yards.

Re: This AR shoots 1" groups at 1600 meters..

You guys are seeing the glass half empty. The scope alone is worth the asking price. Plastic turret caps = German quality.

Welcome to the world of rojkoh... His posts are rarely on topic, full of incorrect information and are usually hit and run. Any information of real value is discredited by all the nonsense he posts. Wait till he brings up the book he's writing about reloading and tuning for the M14. Oh, and all of his work in Hollywood.

If you want some fun, go over to m14forum.com and look up his username and posts, he's been called out by quite a few and gives nothing to substantiate what he says other than he knows the lead engineer at TRW and is a god in his own mind.
