Sniper’s Hide Cup Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

ZAK.
Another ammo question.
240 round, Is this number for the first round hit count?Since there are some stages with the second round hits possible, then what is the total round count if we take the second shot as well? or the 240 round is combined round first and second shots?

Thanks

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

What time on Wednesday is the mandatory check-in? I did not read through the whole thread, but the first page just says mandatory check in on Wednesday.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Do you have a physical address to which ammo and/or firearm(s)could be shipped via UPS/FEDEX, and stored securely, prior to the trainup/Comp. for those of us traveling by air?
Thank you.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Hi,

Things other than firearms can be shipped to the TBAC shop in Cheyenne. Please label them appropriately. You'll have to arrange to pick them up during business hours prior to the train-up or match. Please call our office number to get the physical address and arrange for it.

It's best if you travel with your firearms. Do not ship them to us.

Thanks

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Ok ammo is loaded and boxed up ready to go out tomorrow. airfare, hotel annd rental car are good. Now where did I put my A game???

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

The rifle round count has been pretty well defined but I did not see anything for the handgun portion. If a guy is going to do the train up as well as the match how many rounds of handgun ammo should he have available?

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

The pistol round count is listed on the match web site along with the rifle round count. Current minimum required is more like 40-50 rounds, but you'll be able to shoot as many pistol rounds as you "need" to neutralize the targets. The 100 listed is a reasonable amount to bring if you're good with pistol. To calibrate, pistol portions will be similar in difficulty to what you might find at the Rocky Mtn 3Gun Nat'ls.

The train up will focus on rifle, but we can tune up pistol for anyone who needs/wants it. In that case bring as much as you think you'll want to shoot. I'd recommend 200 rounds to do a reasonable pistol trainup.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Hiders,

1 certificate for coating ($500), 10 CCA Extreme Duty Mags ($250), and 100 CCA AR15 take down tools ($1500), were just sent your way for the 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup.

CCA can't be there this year, but we sponsor Team Blaster, so I'm sure we'll be well represented.

Enjoy the cup, and there should be plenty enough CCA stuff that everyone will take home something from us.

My best!

For match check-in, it will be well past this point on Wagon Hound road, but there will be signs from here on. I will also post the GPS coords of the main match check in area closer to the match.

thanks

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Thanks Jake. That's really cool of you.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

I hate to ask but does the safety requirement still stand or is an open bolt sufficient? Just don't want to swap triggers if I can avoid it!

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

There is no modification to the safety rule. Also note,
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Any firearm that can be demonstrated by any RO or match staff to have a hammer/striker that will fall without the trigger being pressed shall be deemed unsafe and may not be used in the match until repaired. </div></div>
and
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Ammunition that must be "fired" to be unloaded once chambered is declared to be unsafe and may not be used in this match. All firearms must be able to be completely unloaded without firing a round. </div></div>

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

My name is Justin Keeler, DC and I own Nomad Long Range and run the 5,000 acres of range the Cup is being held at this year. I want to first say it has been a pleasure working with the professional crew of Competition Dynamics, and Frank of Sniper's Hide in putting together the 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup. The topography of this match is second to none. We are all very excited about creating the best experience and most practial test of skills imaginable.

I look forward to meeting all you shooters and non-shooters through out this coming week!

Best of Skill!
Justin

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Everyone excited ?!

Ray, Frank, and I are heading up to Douglas tomorrow to finish the match setup and get the train up ready.

Here is the current ROUGH DRAFT of the match booklet. You'll be issued the final version during match check-in on Wednesday, but this will give you an idea of how the match is going to work.

http://competition-dynamics.com/snipershide-cup-2012/handout-draft1.pdf

We'll be out at the range working starting tomorrow for the next week, but we should have email access at the hotel and I can answer questions in the evenings.

thanks
Zak

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Looks good. Is there a single parking area? Just wondering as some of us are going to be in the same car and if we get split up by shooter numbers it's going to be hard to get around if we have to be at multiple areas.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

There will be a parking area near each complex, and one near the sight-in/demo range, and one near the HQ. They are not on the map yet because we need to finalize the parking locations with the landowner.

The UTM grid lines are visible on the map which should give you an idea about the scale. If we had only one parking area it would turn the match into a ruck march...

I have a shooter number assignment list that takes into account the squadding requests I have received to date. I didn't get one from you I don't think.

Anyone who is travelling with someone else and needs to be in the same group, please email me ASAP.

Requests made for the first time during sign-in on Wednesday will <span style="text-decoration: underline">not</span> be accommodated.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

To everyone involved.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful about fires. We've been doing pretty good so far in NE Wyoming, we want to keep it that way.

As a smoker, I agree with the ideal of NO SMOKING anywhere except in your vehicle.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Sorry we didn't think we would be able to be squadded together with the rash of having to pick numbers for shooting numbers in matches now. I like your way better as i want to shoot with my friends as they live all over and I only get to see them at matches. Email on the way.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Emails sent Zak. It would be Tony Gimmellie, Dave Weitz, Rob Morgan and myself. Thanks.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

This isn't even the far section and it is well past 1000...

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Have fun guys - wish I could be there. The venue seems awesome! Maybe next year!

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Frank what is that laser reading?

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

LOL

Rob, I can't tell you that, but it is well past 1000 yards,

I think the missing number is a 2... you can actually see several targets in the image

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Frank, Steven Rogers is shooting with Henry Song, Ray Riganian, and Joe Villegas. and we will likely be in one car.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

LOL Thanks Frank. Wasn't wanting exact numbers but couldn't see the second digit. Knowing it's a 2 helps.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Frank, Bill Zollinger, Rick Baldwin, & Pat Phillips are carpooling up together. Email also sent to Zak.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

It looks to me like a very professional match booklet:
The match appears to be very well thought-out, and I do like the scoring system.

E-mail sent with squadding request. Looking foward to it! See y'all there!!

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

With targets well beyond 1000 will my 6CM have enough energy to register the hits? I know they are easy to spot on our 1200range target on our range. I am tossing the 115 dtac right at 3000. I can bring an edge if need be.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

No night shoot. I think you'll find the match challenging enough as is, and we didn't want to fight the logistics of having people out shooting until after 11 pm and shooting the next morning "early."

Also, the final schedule will be included in the match booklet at check-in.

I would not recommend changing cartridge choice based on a very small number of targets past 1000.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

The DA is easily 7000+ the targets are swinging plates, if your bullet can't move them you made a huge mistake from the beginning... so it's a risk you take with small 6mm bullets.

The plates should move, they are all hanging type.

Re: Official 2012 Sniper's Hide Cup

Wow... its pretty green out there... Going to be interesting shooting targets beyond 1000....
