lifting music

Re: lifting music

Whatever is playing on the gym radio..lol I dont like music in my ears when I am training, I really dont even hear the music when I am training hard.

Plus when you have a workout partner cant hear what they are saying and I feel it waste time selecting songs, taking out ear buds asking, WHAT? and so on.

Another factor is there are alot of idiots in gym so its good to not have something in your ears cause you need to pay attention so some dumb arse doesnt drop something on you..or get hit in the head by a fool moving in your space while your lifting. I cant even tell you how many close calls I have had..Im getting old..lol need to keep the injurys to a min so I can come back the next day.

For lifting, I listen to anything that makes me want to tear the place apart, but ONLY if I'm lifting alone. If I'm lifting with a partner (most days) we just listen to whatever is playing at the gym. Or, more often than not, ignore whatever is playing because it isn't my style and doesn't do anything for me.

Here's some bands for you to look into:

Adept
The Air I Breath
Asking Alexandria
Attack Attack!
August Burns Red
Blessed By A Burden
Blessthefall
Bring Me The Horizon
The Devil Wears Prada
Emmure
For All Those Sleeping
Job for a Cowboy
Like Moths to Flames
Miss May I
Motionless in White
Of Mice & Men
Suicide Silence
We Came as Romans
Woe, Is Me
The Word Alive

There are many others that I can't think of at the moment that I listen to on a day to day basis. That list has everything from soft vocals, to brutal bass drops to screaming at the top of their lungs and in many cases, a nice mixture of both

Today's workout music was supplied by Local H.

Re: lifting music

I usually stick to metal and rock, mainly Metallica, some Ramstein as I understand half of it, and I always love some ZZ Top. I have a decent collection of the good Rock artist such as G&R and the other greats of that ear.

Re: lifting music

Almost anything from Halestorm will get me or keep me going. Also, pitbull is a guilty pleasure. Some of his fast paced tracks are great for pushing my cardio. Especially on "sprint" days where I push the pace more.

Re: lifting music

Just got back from a Five Finger Death Punch concert, they have some very good lifting beats.

I'm a fan of old school hip-hop for workouts: 2Pac, Craig Mack, Ice Cube, Wu-Tang Clan... Just don't play it out loud or you'll start hearing, "I haven't heard this in years!" Nothing gets done after that.

Re: lifting music

I listen to all kinds of stuff, but my go-to for the last 8 or so years is Hatebreed. Rise of Brutality and Perseverance. From CD, mini-disc, to ipod.
