Heres what I have:

DPMS Lower - A2 Stock - Standard Lower Parts Kit

Upper - CMMG MK3 - 18" Stainless Floated 1-10 twist.

Sights - A.R.M.S Flipups and Vortex HS 5.5-15-40mm

**Scope is mounted in Burris PEPR 30mm QD mount

Took it to the range for initial break in and the rifle shows GREAT promise....but the factory trigger is horrible.

Ammo fired is Black Hills 175 match. This will be the ONLY ammo that will be fired as my reloads are a mimic to this as well.

I need opinions/suggestions on a GOOD match trigger setup that WONT break the bank.

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Matt (LEO SOUTH GA.)

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

Geissele is top notch but expensive.

Jard makes a good product and won't break the bank.

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

I have used the Geissele SSA and presently have the Geissele SSA-E. I prefer those models because there's nothing to adjust or mess with and I've been very satisfied with it.

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

Matt- For the money, you cannot beat a Bill Springfield trigger job. Using your parts, it runs from $40 to $60 and you will have a crisp DEPENDABLE single stage trigger.

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

RRA works, ive seen them as low at 85$

not the best 2 stage, but not bad...
i have 1, along with a 300$ Geissele and a old armalite match...

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

I have a Rock River NM 2 stage in mine. They are only around 90 bucks. For my big chassis ARs, I don't like a single stage, or a super light trigger. For the big AR, I highly recommend some anti-walk trigger pins when you change the trigger. They have enough recoil that the trigger pins can drift out, and they go FA on you. Had it happen to me, and it's very disconcerting.

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

im personally not much of a gas gun guy, but recently aquired a ar15 and put a gesseille high speed national match, and am estatic with it, smoothest gas gun ive ever shot

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

I have both the Geissele SSA and SSE, both are top notch, but on my current precision rifle I have an SDE. If I had the money, I would swap the SSA and SSE for SDE right now.

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

Thanks guys for ALL of the suggestions. I will be looking tonight online and comparing some prices.

I am also going to polish up my factory trigger and see how it comes out.

I have done it to AR15's in the past with good results but really did NOT want to have to screw with it.

Figure.. while I am waiting on my ammo order I might as well give it a quick polish and retest it.

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

I got the trigger polished up very nicely...

Started at 1000 grit and worked up to 2500.

Theres a noticable difference. Still some creep in the pull BUT it is VERY smooth feeling and breaks VERY clean.

I will let it ride like this and take it back to the range... atleast until I can get to the shop when they get one in stock.

On a pull gauge it went from about 6 pounds to about 3 to 3.25... Soo VERY nice for now.

Matt.

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

Im leaning towards the Timney or Jard.... Just wanting stop by our local shop when the get some inventory in.

I have a buddy that has a few of them in rifles and I am going to get some trigger time behind them to make a real final decision.

Thanks guys for all the help!

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

Wilson Combat is really nice also. Install is much better design than timney. I've had both, and geissele. G still wins. Worth the money. Especially if you're forking out for Black Hills ammo, don't skimp on your trigger.

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

I'll throw another vote out there for a Geissele. My dad has a Timney on his R25 and he did have a problem with one of the set screws backing out and the trigger wouldn't reset but it has worked great since we got that figured out.

Re: Trigger Advice - DPMS 308

I have had great success with the JP trigger group. But make sure you get the JP spring kit along with the trigger group. If you put the old springs back in, the trigger will be much improved, but not nearly as nice as it will be with the spring kit.
