i wonder if he even hears himself talk anymore? it seems he is trying to get his opponents mad so they mess up? i would think that at a certain level of competition that would not be to much of a factor.

In the Book of Five Rings, Miyamoto Musashi (the Japanese "Sword Saint") found it useful to make his opponents angry. Musashi would show up late, and do other "disrespectful" things to anger his opponents. He never lost, so there is much to be said for his theory. When angry, most people forget their "battle plan" and fight on an emotional level. This usually works to the advantage of the person who is NOT angry, and thereby relies on the battle plan they devised when they were calm, cool, and collected.

Perhaps this is part of Sonnen's plan. I would really like to see him win the upcoming fight.

Normally I don't like a cocky demeanor like that but he is pretty funny. He pulls it off well. Hope he beats silva.

I bought Chael's book on a lark, figuring I would make it about 10 pages before I trashed it. Its pretty funny.

I hope he pounds Silva like he did last time.

If you want to see cocky, you should watch that silly "documentary" they made about Silva.

The only flaw in Sonnen's plan in the first fight was thinking he could win it on the scorecard. 25 minutes is a LONG time to expect a fighter like Silva not to find a way to finish a fight. This time, Sonnen has to find a way to beat him to the punch (no pun intended) or I don't look for the outcome to change.

Chael will knock him out in the 3rd. He put a vicious beating on him last fight and then had an 8 second hold put on him by a flailing Silva. The ref called it to quickly. I think given a few more seconds Chael would have come out of it and still beat Silva's face in.

His new documentary is called "like water" or something absurd. I would not pay to watch it.

Either way.... Silva got his ass handed to him the whole fight and got lucky, VERY lucky. Chael had him beaten physically and on the cards.

My conspiracy mind thinks that perhaps at the last fight Anderson was told by Dana that he was taking an ass whipping by Chael for the whole fight and couldn't fight back till the end. If you recall Anderson in his previous fight was a showboat and pissed Dana off to the point that Dana said on TV he didn't care if he ever saw Anderson fight in the UFC again .....

I have watched lots of fights. This fight is not going to last more than 3 minutes with the most destroyed fighter in the world. Silva is going to destroy this guy like you have never seen.

Silva threw a kick to Sonnen when he was on the ground. Im pretty sure that's a DQ and it looked like the ref was about to step in and then he pulled back.

Ortiz vs Griffin was a better fight to watch. Main event sucked

Anderson also supposedly was fighting with a significant injury to his back, if I can recall correctly.

These rumors, the crap that floats around, the pre show entrances and all the hype are starting to get to me.

They are trying to turn the UFC into the WWE.

The second it becomes more about the show then the fighting, I'm out.

We are getting dangerously close to that.

Sonnen would have been my last reason to watch UFC until doche nozzle dana white went all anti gun, anti America on the public. At that point it was over for me.

I think most of the trash talking was for hype, well I would like to think so anyways.

I think in the first fight Anderson didn't really take chael serious. He treat Chael like all his other fights before him. Anderson was more about show boating, playing and toying with his fighters then beating them senselss.

Anderson's been on a kill path every since Dana told him to start fighting or leave.

He uses it to:

1) hold the shorts with his left hand and underhook with the right to prevent a takedown

2) grips even deeper and uses it to hold Chael in range when he was TRYING to circle out, but could not get away

3) blasts two hard right hands (Anderson Silva right hands mind you) the first of which is depicted in the image, the second one lands clean and blatantly stuns Chael

At that point the ref was able to yell loud enough for Silva to let go, but it already changed the course of the fight. One TD means Silva likely loses the round. He avoided it by cheating, then held the shorts and delivered a hard right hand.

Sonnen got hurt by it, and threw a sloppy, ridiculous spinning back fist out of desperation. He fell on his own ass all by himself looking up stunned - he definitely got hurt from the first illegal blow.

I'm indifferent to Chael, that is just what happened."

1) Rubbed vaseline on his body

2) Held the shorts and used it to a big advantage

3) Looks like he tried to put his knee through the back of Sonnen's head while he was down, even if it mostly hit the chest.

I had a lot of respect for Silva and his skills before this fight. That got a little tarnished for me. Cheating is not cool and he blatantly did it twice for a fact, vaseline and holding the shorts. The knee looked dirty, with bad intentions but is debatable. The first two are not really up for arguing.

Watching the Silva vs Damien Maia fight a few years ago was ridiculous also. All that dancing and mocking of Maia. If you are that much better just whip the guy like he has never been beat before and collect your money. Showboating is one thing, kind of like what Roy Jones Jr used to do but what Silva did during that fight was terrible
