Spartan Blades will do the same by only manufacturing in the U.S.A. with the highest quality domestically produced materials. Additionally, Spartan Blades utilizes other veteran owned small businesses in meeting our manufacturing mission.

The Steel:

Crucible: CPM S35VN:

CPM S35VN is a martensitic stainless steel designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM S30V. Its chemistry has been rebalanced so that it forms some niobium carbides along with vanadium and chromium carbides. Substituting niobium carbides for some of the vanadium carbides makes CPM S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM S35VN’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.

Because both vanadium and niobium carbides are harder and more effective than chromium carbides in providing wear resistance, the CPM stainless blade steels offer improved edge retention over conventional high chromium steels such as 440C and D2. The transverse toughness of the CPM grades is four or more times that of 440C and 154CM. The CPM process produces very homogeneous, high quality steel characterized by superior dimensional stability, grindability, and toughness compared to steels produced by conventional melting practices.

Re: Spartan Blades: "Knives with Intent"

Some reviews from spartanbladesusa.com

Enyo:

I purchased the Enyo to wear as a neck knife and it is superb in craftsmanship and finish. The blade is extremely sharp and the PVD finish is very durable. The included kydex sheath fits the blade perfectly and the overall weight of the knife and sheath is still light enough to wear all day long. I am very happy with this knife and am sure this knife will serve me well for many years to come.

Horkos:

My wife saw this knife last year on Man/Woman Wild - Survival show on discovery channel. She wanted one, so I got it for her. I drooled over it ever since. I finally got mine last month. I love it! It is truly a craftsman work of art! Not only is it beautifully made, but it is so functional. The edge is very sharp, and holds a great edge. I couldn't be more pleased with the grip. The guys at Spartan are down to earth, and very easy to deal with. They are both helpful, and took time to answer all of my questions. TWO THUMBS UP!!!!

Nyx:

I purchased the Nyx about 8 months ago, and it is the blade that I know will never fail me and it stays with my pack at all times. In my opinion, the weight of the blade and fit in the hand is just perfect, and the blade itself is razor sharp and stays that way. I use this heavily outdoors, for both minor and major jobs as it is versatile enough to handle pretty much anything. Once you have one of these Spartan Blades in your hand it becomes very apparent that the creators are not only experienced in blade work and know exactly what they are doing, but you also get a better understanding of their motto "knives with intent". Hold one and you'll see that it does not take a genius to figure out how serious of a blade the Nyx is, or any Spartan Blade for that matter. If you happen to be unsure about picking one up or you are just unfamiliar with what real knives are, then go look up S30V Steel and understand why hardcore warriors, survivalist, and outdoorsman would trust this knife or any other Spartan with their life, as I would too.

Re: Spartan Blades: "Knives with Intent"

+1 for Enyo. The S35VN edges out the SV30 steel and retains a razor sharp edge.

Besides being an excellent HAK, prefer to use Enyo affixed (blade down) to my Ebelstock G4 pack for field use.
