Hey folks,

I just came into possession of a S&W 41 Magnum 657-3 Classic Hunter, serial# CBS92xx 6.5 inch barrel. I started looking online, every one I saw has a non-fluted cylinder, mine is fluted. Anyone have a clue?

I welcome any knowledge any have to share.

Thank you!

Mike

Mike,
It has not been out of the ordinary for S&W to do both fluted and unfluted cylinders on various models thru the years. I have seen quite a few that look just like yours.

Thank you. It's quite nice regardless, I can't wait to see how it shoots.

It's not uncommon for them to change things like hammer/trigger style, cylinder beveling, etc. on their standard production revolvers. With the Performance Center guns, they seem to be even more inclined to alter the basic design. Enjoy your revolver!

most unfluted cylinders were lew Horton special orders. nothing wrong with yours I have the same rig and it shoots great. Hit a 5 gallon bucket at 540 yds not on the first shot though.
