shooting mats

I want to get a shooting mat. I'm sick of using a foam sleeping pad. So I'm looking for info on either of the following 2 mats. Good or bad. Does anyone have experience with these?

i bought the midway mat and freaking love it. We shoot alot out in the desert and it holds up to being laid on whatever prickly crap I can conjure up out there. Highly recommend it. Great bang for the buck.

I'm not sure why the pic of the Cabela's mat is not working.

Has anyone tried the Cabela's mat? My concern with the Midway mat is the quality. According to the reviews, it seems the stitching isn't the best.

Bunny, no problems with the stitching?

I have the midway for the range and the Tab Gear for the field. The Midway is a little narrow for me but it's still a nice mat.

This will be my next mat to replace the midway.

Ive got the larger midway mat and I like it. A few of my pals have the smaller version and they are tiny compared to mine. When you can catch them on sale for half price it a great deal imo

I was going to pick up the Midway but I'm now looking at the new Traid as well. The one feature I like on the Midway is the strap for your bipod. It doesn't look like the Triad has this so I would have to have it modified. Plus the Triad is is twice the cost but comes in several colors. What to do???

I've used that Midway shooting mat for a little over a year. It's held up well so far. In my opinion it's a really good deal at half price. No experience with the others.

The Creedmoor Mats sold by the CMP are pretty dern good. Well made and heavy padding in the right spots for postition shooting.

Stay away from the piece of shit Condor drag bag/mat combo. I have had two and they rip apart at the seems without much wear and tear. I thought the first was a fluke, the second turned out to be worse. They are only 100.00 and appear to be durable as all hell, but you'd be better served going with the NC Star brand of the same bag/mat (and save yourself some cash too!)

I've got the $50 mat from Midway and it's been good so far. I haven't crawled all over in it yet, but the times I've used it, it's been great and dont' see any stitching issues yet.

So far I haven't found anyone who has tried the Cabela's mat. Maybe just the 2 guys that reviewed it. I like the features but don't really want to buy unseen.

Can't beat the Midway for the price. It's a little bulky to hump through the woods for hours on end. But, it works great at the range or shooting from a fixed position.

The strap that catches the feet of the bipod and allows you to preload your bipod are the best feature.

I love my midway mat so far. I think it's the best $25 I've spent. It's perfect for the range, no more bulky than any of the other crap I bring along

i bought the $25 standard mat and after using it once i decided i needed another for when i have buddies or wife out with me. so instead of just buying another standard i got the pro comp mat and all can say is damn. i wish i would've bought these years ago. 2 great quality mats for $75 is a steal of a deal in my book. i would recommend either of these to anyone looking for something to shoot off of.

Yeah the midway rocks. The only gripe I have is the flap thats designed for the muzzle blast is nowhere near where my muzzle is. Sure if I have my 16" AR-15 it kinda works but a 24" or longer barrel is way forward.

I like these mats because they allow lots of room to wallow around and still keep gear on that mat out of the dirt.

I gave this mat a hard look when I was buying. Its big, only thing bigger was the Eagle HRSC bag/mat ombo which became vaporware. Its made in the USA big plus.

In the end I went with one very similar by Police One or USA Police something like that. Its multi fold like the crosstac. What I liked better about the Police whoever made one is that it has webbing with nylon buckles to secure it rather than velcro. I can stuff my cased rifle in the folds of the mat and feel secure it will not fall out while transporting it from truck to firing line. I wouldnt trust velcro to do this. Downside, I havent found a tag anywhere but I'm guessing the Police whatever made one has a made in China tag somewhere. Quality is good though.

These are not packing mats, more like bulky, luxury pads for short walks from car to firing line. Brownells had the best price on Crosstac if you can apply some sort of mil/police/dealer discount.
